Review: I like that the screws are small enough that there is no worries that they will stick out through to the other side. I also like the spring mechanism and the solid feel when locking. I don't really understand the negative reviews especially about the "tiny screws" which to me are more of a convenience even if it does require more care in assembly. Excellent product.

A: From the center of the pivot arm to the center of the lower piece is 9/16" when in the closed position.

A: No, this is a sets of the right

**Q: How wide apart are the holes for securing them in place, from center of hole to center of hole?**
A: 3/4" from center hole to center hole. The screws provided are a perfect fit and easily bite into the wood...no predrilling necessary.

**Q: How much force can they take before breaking?**
A: We used these to help secure our Rabbit cage.  The latches that came with the cage our rabbit kept opening.  These have worked well enough.  They are a little soft and can bend, but so far they give and let the rabbit out of the cage when he pushes against them and not break.  Our rabbit is smart.  These held him in a few months before he learned to open the latch.  Now we have the latch wired.  Not sure if that helps.

Bought in Sept 2025 for $13.88 pretax. These are well made latches. Most of the similar small latches seem to be made of thin stamped sheet metal. These are solid cast or machined pieces. The hook part is not free-spinning, it has a spring inside that holds it in place. So when you lock it, it won't undo by itself just by moving the box around. And just so, when you unlock it, it stays that way also and won't re-lock by gravity, movement or whatever. The screws are quite small, so be cautious not to tap to wide or deep. --- They did a pretty poor job of showing the dimensions so I will do that for them. Other than that, these are perfect for small boxes and projects.
