They're thick and the arms are angled perfectly for picking them up in long chains. It takes a little skill but it's supposed to. That's the point of the game. I purchased these for my 4-year-old nephew for his birthday and he has really enjoyed playing with them. I remember having my own barrel of monkeys around his age and enjoying them as well. Good for development of hand/eye coordination and can be played alone or with someone else. Definitely recommend this vendor.
