For The Price, It's Good
I've tried a lot of canned dog foods. Pedigree is one of my 'okay' brands. I like them because they are so affordable. But there are a few better quality choices out there. This particular variety I'm not the biggest fan of. But it has it's positives. These cans are your normal 'dog food sized' cans. They are an adequate meal size for a medium sized dog. For smaller dogs half the can will do. For large and extra large dogs two to three cans would suffice. They have an 'easy open tab' on the top so you don't need a can opener to access the food. They also come neatly packaged in plastic-wrapped sets of 6. Total you receive 24. Two sets of 6 ground chicken and two sets of 6 ground beef. When you open the can the odor is a bit 'off'. It smells kind of like canned corned beef hash. Not really a dog-friendly smell. There are better brands out there when it comes to smell quality. My two larger malamute dogs are very picky and do not like the odor of this food. They smell it and then turn their heads away. They won't eat it unless they are hungry. I honestly blame this on the smell rather than the actual food taste- as they don't even try it. Their noses turn them away from it.The meat quality itself is also lacking. It's pink in color. This, I find odd, in canned meats. Most canned meats turn a brownish color (chicken would turn white). But these ground ones remain pink. I'm not sure if this is normal of ground meats when they are canned. But it gives me the impression that a lot of unhealthy preservatives are involved in the canning of these meats. There is also a clear gel on the meats that is similar to the gel on Spam. Not exactly appetizing. I'm not sure if it is fat or some other preservative. The texture of this meat is just like glop. It needs to be spooned out of the can and into a bowl. It's kind of like meat jello. I could see how this would be great for older dogs and dogs with weak jaws or sensitive teeth. This food would be very easy for them to eat. It could even be watered down and the dogs wouldn't even have to use their teeth. They could just drink it up. It'd also be great for force-feeding sick animals because of it's thin texture.I fed a litter of 8 puppies this food. They loved it and gobbled it up throughout the first two weeks of their weaned life before they were adopted out. I actually bought this food specifically for puppies. It's a great weaning food for them. The texture is very easy for them to eat and the oily-ness (rather than dryness of dry food) is easy on their digestive system. All puppies gained appropriate weight on this food and had nice coats. I'd definitely recommend it for young dogs.On the other hand my two large dogs won't even touch this stuff. My Chihuahua won't either. They're all accustomed to fresh meat and this food just didn't do them justice. I don't think I'll be buying it again unless I find myself with more newly weaned puppies.

Winner winner chicken & beef dinner!
I love the price, my dogs love the taste, we are all happy.I have 2 dogs. One lives to eat, the other eats to live. The one that lives to eat will chomp down anything I give at him, no matter how unappealing the food may be. My other dog on the other hand, she's a pain in the butt. She makes it clear that she will only eat because it's necessary for survival so feeding her is exhausting. And even when she does eat, she picks it at as if she's disgusted and takes small nips at a time that it drives me crazy.Well I discovered she loves Alpo and Pedigree wet food. The pedigree came at 2 packs for a great price and it lasts me 1 1/2 months so I chose this one over Alpo. I don't worry about her finicky eating anymore because by the time I put her bowl down, her face is already planted in it.I gotta say, in all my time with her (6 years), I've never seen her eat so fast and not care about getting her precious nose dirty. :)

Dog Likes It
Dog is waiting for it every morning..i practically always try to get her the Chopped Beef & Chopped Chicken flavors..occasionally will get her another Pedigree flavor tho the 2 mentioned previously seem to be her favorites..Will get other brands if cheaper tho she prefers the Pedigree canned..The extremely finicky cat has even preferred Pedigree Chopped Beef canned dog food rather than eating it's own canned cat food. When got this;actually only wanted a 12 pack (reason for 4 stars) for some reason was having trouble locating the one i usually got via Amazon & other sites were sold out or more expensive than a case at Amazon so went ahead & got a case (24 pack)..At least will not have to worry about the dog running out of canned food for awhile.

Service is improving -- but still worrisome
My dogs really enjoy this food -- it complements the natural dry food we also give them. But many of the cans are dinged upon arrival; a few are so badly damaged we've had to complain/request replacements. Why does this happen? It was especially bad when Amazon turned to the USPS for delivery -- but now we're back to FedEx and quality is better. But I don't think the problem is totally related to drops during shipping since some of the "bad" cans are in the middle of the case and rather unaffected by a drop. What's the deal?

Dog Food by the Case
I never knew you could by dog food at Amazon until one day I just happened to bounce upon it. To my amazement it came right when it was promised and no shipping to top that off was a delight. My dog is happy too because she never has to wait for her meal like in some days she did when I would run out and have to go to the store. This just adds a nice portability to fresh dog food and I do mean it came fresh. I have bought this same brand at the store before and it was not fresh plus I paidd a higher price per can. Boy that was disappointing. But now I will always order her food this way. I hope to add the cats food next time.

Its cheap, but it has too much added flavoring
No... I didn't try it myself and my dog loves eating it, but it smells like it has too much flavoring, seasoning and salt added. Smells like canned spam. Its mostly corn and mystery meats, but it has so much stuff added to make the dog like it that they become quite picky afterwards. This stuff is like human fast food. It's hard to feed them human grade dog food after they're given this stuff. Now, my dog spits out the all-natural kibble -which I assume he thinks tastes like cardboard after having his taste buds desensitized by all the salt. Kinda like a Pandora's box.The stool is softened soft serve ice cream consistency. After first week when he became accustomed to it, which was more runny. The price is good, but your dog will become more picky with blander foods afterwards.
