Can this safely go in the washing machine and/or dryer?

The manufacturer recommends spot cleaning and hand washing. If it must go in the washer, gentle cycle. This item should never go in the dryer, hang/air dry only.

Are 1 year olds too old for rattlers?

I don't think so. I bought this for an 8yr old to replace one she'd had for years and loved sleeping with. Every child is different, but these a cute and cuddly and I think a 1 yr old would love it and the ability to hold on to it so easily.

Sweet rattle that in nice neutral colors. Looks to be good quality with no loose strings seeming safe for young infants. It's soft and squishy just perfect for baby's grabbing and rattling. I added it to a baby gift basket that I made for a new baby boy.
