It is a little more textured than I would like for writing on single sheets of paper as you feel and see the grain in your work, but I use a writing pad so this is less of an issue. I would recommend this product to anyone wanting to protect their desk with a classy and neutral mat or as a large typing/mouse mat. However, if you intend to draw or write on single paper I cannot recommend this item.
