Im paint skirting boards, banisters and a wooden frame outside ?** A: The choice of which paint to use is a personal one. If you want a fast drying product where you can perhaps apply two coats in the same day, then the water based one is more suitable. Water based is also low odour when compared to solvent based and because it is faster drying than oil based, it allows for surfaces to be finished the same day. **Q: does this need an undercoat** A: I had new doors etc so did an undercoat anyway.. **Q: Can i apply with roller** A: Hello Yes you can, a foam roller is a good choice wit this coating. It all depends if you can keep people and pets away from the oil based for a day . This is very difficult paint to work with, and I suspect is better applied by someone in the painting and decorating trade who knows the finer points of working with paint, rather than someone like me who just slaps the paint on and hopes for the best! Good quality paint, but very certainly not non-drip, and too easy to overload your brush it being so thin, ending up with it dripping off the brush or leaving excess amounts on the painted surface leading to drips/runs. However, the areas where I managed to get a good finish It looks fantastic.
