I did take the time to assemble the proper tools and materials for the job and have enough experience to be comfortable with an installation like this. If you're not sure about it, hiring a reputable handyman might be worth considering. The awning has withstood some pretty nasty wind and rain with no problems and the fabric has very good UV resistance. I installed it over an outward-opening door, so I had to be careful about mounting height so it would not interfere with the door, but it still low enough to provide good weather protection when opening the door while it's raining. I put it up and that was fairly easy but then the door rubbed on it. You can only go up to your soffit so yoou are limited to how high you can raise it.
