An Excellent Accessory for Your S&W 617
Background:I got the Speed Beez after I saw one my colleagues use it for Ruger SP101. The speed loading along with Block case made it easy for him to carry around, as if carrying multiple magazines for semi-automatic hand guns. As such, I purchased it for my S&W to see how it would perform. The Positives:1. Quality - it is a very good quality product. The precise mechanism and heavy feel give it a good sturdy feeling, while operating.2. Ease of Use - It is very easy to load and unload the rounds from the Loading Block Case. It was easy for even the kids (of course under proper supervision) to load and unload the rounds.3. Faster Loading - While no revolver reloading can match the speed with which you can load a semi-auto, this system gives a fighting chance. In fact, Paul Harrell (search on YouTube) does a good demonstration of speed loading a revolver.4. Packaging - It comes in a good packaging, which is easy to remove.Improvements/Suggestions:1. If I had to, I would make the red color a little more shinier. The semi-matte look can sometime be distracting from otherwise a beautiful product. I know I am nit picking here. Conclusions:My wife loved this and the Loading Block so much that she has decided to make this as her primary gun. She likes the feel of the 617 already, and this has made her life easier. She loves going to the range with the setup and shoot for hours. My recommendation is that if you are purchasing this product, please invest money and get the Loading Block Case also.

Works great
Bought this for my shiny new S&W 617 and paired it with the Speed Beez 100 round loading block + case. Love the combo as it's a ton of fun dumping 100 rounds faster than most semi-auto's simply due to how quickly the gun can be reloaded like this. The speed loader itself is reasonably well built. Has a nice aluminum handle while the lower part of the body is plastic. It all seems fairly robust though, just can't see anything breaking under normal use. I expect this will last a long time. You could certainly carry these speed loaders in a pouch loaded. The cartridges are fairly secure. A pocket would be a bad idea but if you have a dedicated speed loader belt pouch, I think these would be carryable for hunting/pest control/hiking.

Makes shooting your 10-round revolver a lot more fun
I bought this, along with accessory handle and the block sold by the same company, to reload a S&W 617 at the range. So what is the experience like?Well, first, it's slow and boring to reload the cylinder manually. Ten cartridges each time, push 'em in one or two at a time, then send another ten bullets downrange. This new setup is a lot more fun. I can put 100 shells into the block before I ever head to the range, and then at the range it's a much nicer process. Loading a ring of ten cartridges into the speed loader takes about one second. Press it down, you're done; it registers instantly once you've done it a few times.Next you have to seat the cartridges into the cylinder. This can take a shot or two, especially if you're shooting little hollowpoints. The 617's cylinder isn't chamfered, and the semiflat nose of the Winchester 22 I've been using makes getting the bullets aligned a bit difficult. It's not like dropping six rounds into a 686! Sometimes it takes several seconds for me to get the alignment right. But it's not frustrating, and it's MUCH faster and less distracting than charging the cylinder manually. The next step is to release the cartridges into the cylinder. You need to do this with the revolver pointing at the floor or nearly so. Just push down on the black band at the bottom, and the cartridges eject into the cylinder. When you're using ammo that's pretty dirty (such as this Winchester stuff, as compared to the CCI I usually prefer), you will find yourself sometimes needing to seat the bullets by running your thumb over the primers to press them in. But again, that's a one-second operation and not much of a distraction.Does it clear the grip well enough with the handle attached? With the 686 and its stock Hogue grip, yes. No issues at all.It is NOT a good way to practice for IDPA, using this to emulate your 357 / 38 special reloading manual of arms; the process of registering the bullets into the cylinder is enough different that you'll find little transferable benefit. So you won't speed up your revolver reload times by practicing with this.So what is it good for? Shooting a couple boxes of ammo, concentrating on your kids or friends and your shooting, without the boring breaks to recharge the cylinder. I recommend this 100%, including the accessory handle and the block.

Expensive but GREAT
An excellent product and a must have for your S&W 617. I bought two and I plan on buying two more. These things are expensive though--probably more expensive than I think they need to be. So I give it 4 stars

Speed yes! I can keep up with the semi mag change. well almost...
Really work well. I bought the 50 round loading block too and it's just a blast at the range. These are taller than my sks speedloaders for my 357 so they dont fit in my pouch. So I'll try to find a pouch to hold them as it would be a blast to do a woods walk with them.

Along with one of the loading block kits also sold here by Speed Beez it makes plinking with your tack driving revolver so much
If you own a 10 Shot 617 You don't want one of these. YOU NEED ONE OF THESE. Along with one of the loading block kits also sold here by Speed Beez it makes plinking with your tack driving revolver so much more fun and you don't have to sit an reload those cylinders one tiny round at a time. Also your shooting buddies will be jealous because you are done reloading and taking a break while they get loaders thumb on their autos or bored to tears lining up each round in their cylinder. Awesome product.
