Will the foot rest slip on hard/wooden floors?

No it won’t, the flat side has small rubbery tags which stops it from moving. It works really well. You can also flip it over and use it upside down and it moves a little on hard floors but not by much.

Hello, would this help with feet going numb while sitting at the computer for long periods?

I think this depends on the angle of your feet and knees while you are sitting. If this footrest elevates your feet to a proper angle to help bloodflow then absolutely. I have my chair at a height so the end of the seat doesn't prevent circulation when I put my feet on the footrest and they never went numb since I got this. So yes, I believe it helps.

It came in a box, covered with a plastic protective cover.

Does this help with the prevention of swelling of the feet/ankles whilst sitting at a desk for extended periods of time?

I have never experienced this condition swelling of the feet/ankles, before having this foot rest or since I had this footrest. Cannot confirm whether this footrest helps in any way for this condition.
