Why aren’t there more books like this?
I bought this for my daughter because I was tired of all the princess stories. I wanted something that showed kids that looked diverse and told a story about being creative and adventurous. This book delivered! I read it to both of my kids 7 (girl) and 8 (boy). I thought that my son would think he was too old for it, but he liked it as much, if not more than my daughter. They are now constantly asking me to check back to see if this authors next book has been released yet.

That's right. I couldn't believe it! They are usually so wriggly and focusing on a million different things at once, but with this book they were totally focused, giggling, asking questions and just loving the story! For me as a parent I also love the fact that the characters are not only fun and interesting, but only demonstrating courage and inclusion - qualities I want to instill in my own children. Engaging story, beautiful art
This is a lovely book with outstanding illustration. Three cousins find their grandma's hot air balloon and decide to get it back into the air. A true adventure with mutual support, friendship and occasional scares. I love that the heros are just regular girls who are not afraid to get dirty. I see myself as a child in them.

Such a great story! A breath of fresh air!
Such a great book!! My kids, boy and girl, 7&5 both loved it! Such a breath of fresh air! I loved the story too. It’s uplifting and intelligent. Well done!

Uplifting story :)
In "The start of something big" there's an interesting mix of reality and fiction and children are introduced to a world where everything seems possible. The little readers embark on an exciting journey together with 3 brave, adventurous girls and learn about determination, a bit of physics and most importantly, about togetherness. Overall, this is a heartwarming, creative and catchy story and my 4 year old son really liked it. We are both happy to have discovered it and look forward to reading the rest of the books from this series.

Strong girls rock!...Beautiful illustrations!
Loved the story of the girls adventures ! We wanted to know more about the next adventure and we had a great end of book chat about where we would go and get up to next! The illustrations are beautiful, it' as lovely read!

3 curious girls, an adventurous grandma and a hot air baloon!
I love this book, I have the hard cover copy in German and I’m happy now to be able to read it on my telephone as well my children when we travel. We look forward to see what happens in the next adventures!

Lovely book
My girls loved this book. This book has got beautiful illustrations and the story is about three cousins going for a hot air balloon ride to their grandma. We can't wait for the next adventure.
