Quality part
My boat gas gauge was intermittently working, not working, and having seizures. I made an educated guess that the sender unit was the problem, and installed this Moeller Fuel Tank Sender Unit in less than an hour (no, I am not a professional mechanic). Of course I left out a few steps, like draining the gas tank and doing a pressure test. But since the sender is installed at the TOP of the tank on my boat, gravity is in my favor. This sender unit is American manufactured, which I prefer when I need quality control like an electrical part in a gas tank. This sender has stainless steel rods, comes with a rubber gasket, and replacement stainless steel installation screws that come with a sealing compound at their heads. The rods are plenty-long, and can be cut to size. The only puzzling part is the clamp that holds the float rods together; for some reason its screw is made from regular steel. I would have paid an extra nickel for that to be stainless, too. Most importantly, my fuel gauge is working perfectly and has lost all seizure activity.

Direct fit
I was nervous about ordering a new gas sending unit/float for my boat, but this worked perfect. Install was simple and it matched all the previous holes. Trimming it to the right length was easy as well. Only thing that I couldn't use were the provided screws being they were different thread pitch, but the old ones worked fine. For the price, I would definitely buy again if I needed to!

Does the job. May need mods depending on your wiring.
Bought this as “complete kit.” It was an open box item, but nowhere did it mention that the screws and gasket were missing. Pretty annoying that I had to reorder and wait another two days for a new gasket, but Amazon refunded me for the kit and let me keep it. Just installed everything today and it was pretty simple except for the threaded terminals on the back of the gauge were much bigger than the OEM guage, so I had to carefully grind the threads off the top half of all three in order to make the harness seat. So far so good after that. Haven't had it long enough to attest to longevity and haven't filled the tank yet to test the accuracy, but it is getting a signal and appears to be working so far on my ‘99 Maxum 1800 with 3.0L Mercruiser. Both the gauge and sending unit were a perfect fit in the factory holes.

Works great and the install was a piece of cake!
This product works great, especially at this price point. The included directions make the install a breeze. The only thing that didn’t work is the included bolts were the wrong thread pattern for my tank but that was a nonissue as I reused my existing bolts from the old unit. This one is way more accurate and now I can be on the water without fearing I’m going to run out of gas!

Excellent product
I have a VIP 1988 with a 4.3 OMC. The fuel sending unit went bad. This looked like a very similar unit. The only difference I could see was the float was different. When the unit arrived, it had easy to follow instructions. It also included a new seal and set of screws with sealant on them. I measure the depth of my gas tank and followed the instructions included to trim the float arm to the proper length. I then installed it and connected the wires. I am very methodical and am detail oriented. It took me about 20 minutes to install. Works great. I highly recommend this product if you have this type of sending unit. One reviewer felt this was a cheap unit. It is better than the original.

Screw holes do not line up
Plate did not line up with the screw holes in my tank so I had to use the old one. Also gasket didn’t line up but I was able to cut new holes in it. Otherwise it worked fine
