Smooth as melted butter
WARNING! This blade comes with a seriously sharpened edge. Upon arrival I inspected the knife for it's quality given the south of $100 price. For its probable uses this knife gives you an affordable yet high quality components fitted into a smaller EDC everyday carry blade. The D2 steel is favorite of mine due to it's a overall Rockwell hardness rating and it's easier of putting a fine edge on it when needed after hard use. D2 is a perfect and affordable steel when a $400+ blade just isn't practical when children need to eat and buying this years schools supplies is right around the corner. G10 scale is also impressive since most knife makers at higher costs are also using it. Stainless liners and a solid lock up are also a plus. The Emerson Wave feature. Here's where it gets scary. First time out of my jeans pocket I cut two fingers and required bandages for bleeding control. Please, practice the opening carefully with what ever pants, slacks, jeans or hikers you plan on carrying this knife in. It's critical to learn this procedure properly without needing first aid essentials close nearby. My first attempt at deploying the blade was with jeans that a bit of elastine in them and pocket stretches when clipped into place. This caused me to struggle a bit since the knife clip is very tight against jeans pockets. Hence the two slices fingers. Aside from needing to practice the deployment of this blade carefully I'm certain you'll be impressed by this Kershaw addition to its manufacturing inventory. Stay safe!

Great quality and price
Great knife at an even better price. I always wanted the original Emerson wave, but at $250 or so couldn't justify it being another EDC addition. Now that Kershaw has the rights to produce it, you still get a good quality knife at a much better price... especially when you have others and you don't really "need" another knife. Beware, you will have to practice withdrawing this from your pocket to open properly. You will also need to practice taking it out of your pocket and keeping the blade closed! Yes it will open that easily. But practice on older heavy duty pants, to avoid ruining the corner of thin pants/shorts as you need to 'catch the wave' on the pocket corner. You will have to be cautious at first in handling it, and the blade locking feature is my least favorite so needing to adapt to it, as opposed to the Benchmade I used to carry. The blade seems plenty sharp, I'm really really resisting cutting anything and everything in sight to preserve the edge, I bought this a personal defense EDC not a box cutter. The overall size and thickness are easy in all my pockets so far. Two color is great.

a fantastic value and a must have...
Well im impressed. Tidy little package. Good looking. Sharp blade.Smooth operation. Excellent ergonomics. Well made. A home run IMO. A definite best buy and must have. Read on for those that want details. The knife has excellent, grippy ,attractive G-10 scale over nice thick stainless liner. Thick.strong, bead blasted stainless frame lock and smooth G-10 back spacer. Put together with 3) fairly small build screws tapped into stainless standoffs themselves loosely pressed into the backspacer. Incidentally the spacer can be removed and leaving just standoffs for those that prefer open construction. The blade is 1/8" thick by 3 1/4" long and is made from 8cr13mov as i understand tho its not marked on the blade. As delivered its fairly sharp and is perfectly centered. It has nice even grinds. Its hollow ground to the edge which is quite sharp. The flats have a brushed finish while the hollow grinds have a nice stonewash. Very attractive finishing. The blade opens via a nicely placed thumb disc or the Emerson wave feature. Both methods work very well tho i prefer more texture on the thumb disc for a more reliable purchase and blade opening. The wave feature also forms a really great jimped thumb ramp besides being a lightning fast means of blade deployment. The blade pivots on a good sized pivot and has nylon or teflon washers. It pivots very smoothly after lubrication but was a bit course and noisy as delivered. There is a small to medium sized blade stop and the framelock locks securely to a depth of about 40%. There is zero blade play in any direction. Blade retention in the closed position is very good. No danger of it opening by accident.A very solid action and lockup. Ergonomics are fantastic with the handle shape ,jimped thumb ramp and deep finger groove positively locking itself into my grasp. And does so with complete comfort. Extremely secure.extremely comfortable and offers a variety of grip styles. Excellent! It is a solid feeling knife being made of steel rather than the titanium thats so popular(and expensive),but its not too heavy at all. Its reassuring weight IMO. The pocket clip is tip up only and reversible for left or right hand carry. It has excellent tension and retains the knife in pocket reliably. Its not super deep carry however, with about 3/4" exposed. Overall an exceptional knife and an incredible value. I consider it a must have and intend to check out a couple other Kershaw/Emerson collaboration models. Extremely highly recommended to anyone in need of a versatile utility or EDC blade that can definitely handle being pressed into a tactical/defensive role in an emergency. A very impressive knife. Update: A quick update to cover a couple things i didnt cover above. First, after a light stropping, the factory edge went from sticky sharp to downright frightening! It was deceptively sharp as delivered but is now one of the sharpest factory edges in my collection. Very nice! And second,a word about the Emerson wave feature. For those that dont know, this is a wave shaped appendage on top of the blade spine which catches on the pocket seam as its withdrawn and quickly opens the blade in one swift motion. With a bit of practice its practically 100% reliable and blazing fast. You have to grip the knife very far to the rear of handle to keep from interfering with the opening blade and possibly cutting yourself ,and then reaquire a proper grip so actual blade presentation may not be as fast as first thought. Im sure with enough practice it is a useful option though. However, get very familiar with it and be consciously aware when carrying this knife as its easy to forget about the wave deployment and receive a nasty bite upon removal from your pocket. It has almost gotten me several times already. Just be careful and be sure of which knife your reaching for especially if you carry more than one knife at a time. Youll only need to learn that lesson the hard way once before the Emerson wave becomes more of a "thud" in the garbage can. Anyway, this is a great high value knife. Excellent all around if a little weighty. A solidly built, high quality ,low cost introduction for those that want to try out an Emerson without spending nearly $200. Highly recommended.

Tolles Taschenmesser. Wer also kein Vermögen für ein "echtes" Emerson ausgeben will, sollte hier zuschlagen.
