I am looking at buying this tent but it only has 2000 hh should this put me off? Also two reviews say about the openings of the curtains causes draft?

Coming from a technical textile background I have to say that the current tendency to judge equipment by hydrostatic head figures is little more than marketing hype. A properly constructed tent should be perfectly waterproof with a HH of less than 1000. Fabrics actually get their waterproof properties in two ways. There is a water resistant treatment on the whole fabric which causes water to bead and run off without wetting the fabric. This is what is replenished by waterproofing sprays. Then, on the back of the fabric is a polymer coating (usually polyurethane) which prevents any water that makes it through the fabric. It is this which primarily contributes to the Hydrostatic Head. In outdoor fabrics this helps to stop wind pressure forcing water through the weave of the cloth. 2000mm water column is a lot of pressure and ought to be good for more than summer conditions. Much more likely that seams will fail unless securely taped - seam sealant can help if either taped seam or PU coating is damaged and proofing sprays will help fabric shed water like new.

I just want to double, double confirm that the UK version (Cortes Octagon 8) definitely comes with a room divider?

Hi, the tent definitely comes with a room divider. The divider is a sheet of tent fabric that can be attached with toggles to hang. It has a zip that runs down the middle. The divider is not attached at the floor, and simply hangs down. Hope this helps. The tent is great, but if privacy is a concern then this is not ideal.

Can i use the outer laver on its own like a gazebo ?

No. The inner layer can be used sort of as a gazebo.  All the fixings for the poles are sewn into the inner tent.  The fly sheet does unzip though to reveal the inner mesh ‘windows’.  Hope this is helpful!
