Genki 1 Third Edition: An Integrated Course in Elementary Japanese 1 (Workbook)

This workbook is a fantastic way to start your journey to learning Japanese. It’s perfect for implementing the knowledge gained for the textbook and goes over all the key aspects of Japanese Hiragana, Katakana, grammar and vocabulary are all condensed inside. Highly recommend despite the Genki set being on the more expensive side

My japanese teacher says its a common mistake to buy the wrong one but these genki books are the best to study from. In my lessons she says the questions and I answer, and we take turns. I really recommend getting both or you won’t be able to understand this answer book. A lot of it is easy to presume but without the questions its hard to grasp the concepts behind the questions, eg grammar. Lesson 1 is a good start to review if you have been using duolingo, are confident with hiragana and katakana and have a basic understanding of the words used for time, numbers, grades in school and counting age.

Love this book but make sure to purchase the course book too if not this doesn't make sense, its hard to enter with no Japanese knowledge. I'd study another textbook before/with this to make it easier. It's hard to self teach with this as there are tasks to practice with others but you can always ask a friend.

I used this with its partner textbook. It’s very helpful on the Japanese language journey. Like any language, you can’t just become fluent from a textbook and it’s work book. However, a large chunk of my Japanese ability came from using the workbook daily. It’s super helpful for reviewing content and ensuring I remember it all.

This is too advanced for beginners. Images of the pages would have immediately shown that, but there are none. The book is dispatched from Slovakia which makes returns expensive.

Seemed expensive to me for the quantity of content, and you have to pay an extra £6 for the Genki app which feels a bit exploitative

Highly suggest you to buy this book!!! I'm using this for self-study and I'm very impressed with my progress in japanese made with this book. Really usefull for revising, and to make you more comfortable with different grammar points.

Finally a good workbook! (Albeit a little pricey)
