Swamp Devil: Maneater Series [DVD]

SWAMP DEVILI am a big fan of the “Man Eater” series that was coming out there for a few years. I have reviewed most of them and recently watched this one again with my brother and grandparents. It had been a while since I had seen this one so we popped it in for our weekly movie night when we all get together.The film follows a young woman who has not been back to her little home town in years. She is now returning after learning that her father is wanted for murder. When she returns things are not like she remembered them. The town seems determined that it was her father that killed a girl but strange things are happening that may prove otherwise.This was a fun made for TV flick that while kinda predictable was still fun. Bruce Dern is always great and all of the other actors did good jobs. It may remind you of Swamp Thing or even Marvel’s Man-Thing but the creature here is no hero. The GGI is of course SYFY Channel level great and that adds to the fun. Director David Winning did a nice job here; he also directed another “Man Eater” series film called “Black Swarm”. He also helmed the excellent Mini Series “Merlin” and the recent Hallmark Channel movie “Winter’s Dream” starring Dean Cain. Co-writer Ethlie Ann Vare also wrote “Black Swarm” and the Kevin Sorbo film “Something Beneath”. Co-Writer Gary Dauberman wrote the first two films in this series called “In the Spider’s Web” and “Blood Monkey” and went on to pen the “Annabelle” films, “The Nun”, and the latest “IT” film.I wish we would have gotten a commentary with them three but the DVD just has trailers for other films in the series. Still I do recommend this flick for those who enjoy SYFY Channel flicks.

As I said it arrived promptly, a day ahead of schedule and the video was viewed a day later. It played fine and was enjoyable to the family. It is a good addition to our video collection.

This is a story of misunderstanding and a woman's love for her son. When a young man is killed by a posse without proof of wrong doing, revenge is the only option left. Bruce Dern was the sheriff in charge of the murderous posse and has been blamed for the Swamp Devil's existence -- maybe he's even the Swamp Devil. Can his long-lost daughter coax him out of the swamp long enough to clear him or condemn him? You'll have to watch to find out.

I RECEIVED THE DVD IN VERY GOOD CONDITION AND IT PLAYS VERY GOOD.

I had to get this. However, the dialogue and the other actors are so bad as to make this a highly entertaining film, up there with the likes of Shark Attack 3. Buy, laugh, and enjoy this train wreck of a movie.* DVD Note: The audio on this DVD was a little messed up at parts, creating occasional minor electronic feedback. I thought at first it was my DVD player or TV, but I tried another player on another TV, and the problem persisted. Don't know if a whole bad batch of these went out, or if it was just mine. The disc itself looks fine and undamaged.

its a pretty good syfy movie has a nice story line will keep your attention and has a pretty good monster i liked the thing but i love horror movies and it kept my attention

This is a very interesting movie. The effects were very cool and the plot was entertaining. I think the whole family could enjoy this because there is little language, not a ton of gore, and no sex. It has some action and is thoroughly entertaining. I highly recommend it for sci-fi fans.

This review is dictated to me by my son- enjoy!I Loved this movie! It's gotta be one of my favourite movies! It's got one great story, Bruce Dern is one great actor, And it's great to see him in another new movie! The acting was great! The characters were very likable. The Special effects, have got to be some of the best I've seen! (Well...For this type of movie the special effects were amaizing) The creature is TOTALLY FREAKIN' AWESOME!!!!!!!! There isn't much gore, but the scenes with gore aren't that bad, A 12-year-old, (Like me.) wouldn't think it's gorey. And there's only one little part of strong language. But other than all that! It's a very entertaining movie! It's got some pretty cool action scenes. (Like the car chase at the end)I Highly Recomend it To anyone! It's an movie you could watch with your whole family! I can't stop watching it Over, and over, and over again!!!!!
