Shoe Shine Lady Paperback – October 11, 2013

Whether it was in the Great Depression or in our age of Occupy Wall Street, there is always a great story to be told when an individual refuses to accept being a victim and fights back with hope and spirit against crushing economic forces and insatiable greed. Aaron Fox creates just such a story in “Shoe Shine Lady,” and the character of Belle Reinker is just such an individual. The novel is well worth reading just for the story and the memorable characters, but it is also a thoughtful and insightful commentary on our economic reality.

Aaron Fox is a master storyteller; The Shoe Shine Lady is a well written, compelling novel filled with interesting characters and strong dialogue. The picture he paints of a down on its luck steel town is heartbreakingly realistic and captures the tragedy of the collapse of industrial America and the tough choices people must make to survive. I loved his characters and thought about them long after I finished reading.

A good read. "Shoe Shine Lady" has an action filled plot capably depicted by its down to earth characters.- A St. Simons Island fan
