Lights on Cotton Rock

Another great book from my favorite author and illustrator!
Lights on Cotton RockDavid Litchfield is my favorite author-illustrator, so I’m biased. This book evokes similar feelings with a different poignant message at the end as his other books. It appeals to adults and children alike. My class loved reading it and wanted me to read it again. There are pages in this book that I’d like to frame and hang-up on my wall. For a book with lights in the title, his artwork does a fantastic job creating all different types of lights on the page.

Charming story , poignant message
Bought this book as a teacher of a class of David Litchfield fans (this is our fourth book) intending to use it as a learning tool. Children loved it, as always the pictures are amazing. So much to look at. The storyline about a young girl wanting to be zapped up by aliens intrigued the children. They loved the repetition of the “off, and on, off and on” of the torch. And the overall message of the book was clearly summed up - you probably already have what you want.Highly recommend this. Perfect for school or as a bedtime read - or just to stare at the beauty of the double page spreads as the alien craft appears.

The makings of a classic
This picture book is beautiful, not just in the detailed and rich images but also in its telling of how some times what we really seek is right there before us. Pitched at older children 7+ it's a beautiful storybook about Heather and her wish to be captured by aliens. It details her growth and development from child to adult through the use of well paced text and images, some of which replace text altogether. Clever book giving scope for discussion throughout, its one I would recommend incorporating into your library.

Another amazing story by David Litchfield
I'm a big fan of David Litchfield's other books, so when I found out he was releasing a new story, and the fact that it was 80's sci-fi influenced, I was so excited, and the book doesn't dissapoint. Full of Litchfield's distinctive style of illustration, couppled with a beautiful story about family, friends and the people who matter most to you, this is a classic picture book that needs to be read.

Magical, heartwarming and imaginative!
Glorious, magical illustrations and a heart warming story celebrating the importance of family. I love that the story is told mostly through the pictures leaving lots of room for having a conversation about what is going on....allowing time for observations, spotting things and inspiring the imagination. This is magical!

Beautiful book
Beautiful book with colourful illustrations on every page! My 3 year older requests Cotton Rock most nights before bed, and I enjoy it as much as she does. Great message behind the story too.
