If you care about your pet's nutrition, you need this brand. I give this to all 5 of my rats and it is truly the healthiest blend, especially supplemented with fresh fruits or vegetables. My rats truly pick this out over other food samples. I've never had a rat refuse this kibble. It's easy to store and stays fresh.

Definitely one of the best foods on the market in terms of nutrients & flavor. I have three rats and I give them around two handfuls a day. They always finish and are always very excited about it, they maintain a healthy weight and something I've noticed about this food specifically is that they like it even more than the seed and nut mixtures that you can purchase for rats. Honestly they get more excited for this than they do their fruit & veg which is a shock as other pellet type food I've tried usually isn't such a hit.

I had a mother rat and 15 babies and was using another brand of food. After reading the reviews I decided to try this brand. At this point I had a mother rat and nine babies left. I put two dishes of food in the cage. One with the old brand and one with the new brand. It was comical to watch as the mother and eight of the babies ate the new food like it was a special treat. Only one rat preferred the the old brand. This brand has smaller pieces that the rats can eat in one sitting instead of eating off a big pellet. This food appears to be healthier as evidenced by the rate they grew. I think it is healthier for the rats because the food dishes stay cleaner since they take a full piece to eat.

I researched everything I could find about good food for the rats (we have 4) and I'm sure you all know how picky they can be. I decided to try the "Oxbow Regal Rat" food for it's complete nutrition and mix the "FM Browns Tropical Carnival" in for variety. Keep in mind my rats wouldn't eat anything but the "goodies" out of the store bought Kaytee Fiesta diet we have had them on. First of all both the Oxbow Regal and the FM Browns Tropical Carnival smell good, even to me. Sounds funny but you know rodents use their noses more than any other sense. Have to be able to smell what's edible in the dark, dude. So if I think it smells like catfood and fish meal, the rats are going to find it even better... Second - the Oxbow is very similar to cat/dog food kibble instead of the giant soy nuggets in every other bag of food you find at the pet store (and no ones rats eat those, do they?) Why pay for stuff your rat doesnt' eat? I mean, would you keep buying dog food that tastes so bad Fido won't eat it? And complete nutrition! I have always worried about my rats getting their vitamins - I want them to live long healthy, happy lives. Third - The FM Browns Tropical Carnival is mostly seeds and "some" cereals and "few" dried shrimps, but it smells good and see above for my take on that. I know some folks have said not to give their rodents seeds because of too much protien or fat or whatever, but hey, these are American rats! We like some potatoes with that dry as a bone baked chicken breast and no-butter green beans. As long as the majority of what their eating is the healthy stuff, let them have some "junk food." First day with the new foods mixed together, stirred into their old stuff: the rats all picked out the new Oxbow and left the old Fiesta Max in the bowl! Hey Mikey! He likes it! I normally will give my rats fruit and veggies every night for dinner on top of their kibble (and a piece of candy, shame on me) but I have to admit the other day I completely forgot to feed them. Next morning the rats were, of course, hanging from the bars of the cage like "feed us, we're starving!" but they had been picking through the Oxbow/FM Browns mix I feed them and there was very little mess. Good nutrition, good price, available when you want it, and the rats like it. What more could you want?

Main food for my rats, great value with the large bag. It lasts about 3 months for me with 8 rattos 4 girls and 4 big boys. They all enjoy it. Great kibble shape prevents selective eating so I know they are getting everything they need nutrients wise. The bag itself is good, doesn't rip open but the re-sealable top breaks apart from the bag too easy.

My four ratty friends love this food. I've tried them on other brands, but this is their favourite. Expensive, but the girls get the food they like best!

I am a rat breeder and by this bag every month. BUT NOT when it goes over 80 bucks!! Right now its 119 and I will rather go to the store and by the smaller bags till the price goes down. My rats love this stuff and eat alot! I have about 15 rats and 3 or 4 litters of baby rats... so please lower the price so I can by more!!

Great product, highly recommended! Excellent seller as well. Whole Oxbow product is the best for rats, rabbits, chinchillas, and other small animal.
