A great American novelist, illustrated by a great American artist―now available in a collectible two-volume set In 1936, the Heritage Press, a publisher of fine editions, commissioned Norman Rockwell to illustrate Mark Twain’s Adventures of Tom Sawyer ; four years later, they asked him to illustrate The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn as well. For each book, Rockwell created eight full-color paintings and numerous pen-and-ink drawings, the product of extensive on-the-ground research in Twain’s hometown of Hannibal, Missouri. Famously, Rockwell even tried to buy some Hannibal residents’ old clothes, to dress his models in. For years, the Rockwell editions of Tom Sawyer and Huckleberry Finn have been unavailable in stores. Now, Abbeville Press is proud to reissue them as a handsome new clothbound set. The color plates are reproduced from new photography of Rockwell’s original paintings, the typesetting has been done anew to a high standard, and new introductions―illustrated with Rockwell’s rarely seen preliminary sketches―examine this unique encounter between two legendary chroniclers of America. Beautiful set!
This is a beautiful set! The binding is superb, the covers are beautiful, and the Norman Rockwell illustrations are timeless. So glad I found these on Amazon!

Collectible illustrated edition
This book set is perfect. The Norman Rockwell illustrated edition is a a must book collection. I like the box and book cover, binding, paper quality and size perfect for reading. Readability - font and font size as well as the color of the paper is good. I have read this two novels of Mark Twain as a child and would re-read it again.

Beautiful illustrations; timeless prose
These books are controversial. A subject of periodic book banning efforts and frequent public scorn, the author and his best known works are avoided by parents and derided by culture politicos for his use of "the vernacular," especially the frequency of the notorious "n word." The controversy has been raging since it's publication. But I bought this edition for my grandson in the hope that the stories will spark his imagination and ignite his curiosity as they did for me when my father read the story to me over 60 years ago. The slip case and gorgeous illustrations are very nice too.

Don't send damaged items
This would be great if the outer cover, which is important, didn't have dents and scratches. Was returned for a refund.

Quality edition, great binding, beautiful illustrations
I have several editions of these books as they are my favorite novels and this is by far the highest quality one. They are cloth-bound, beautiful paper, lovely sewn binding. The book can be opened all the way without damaging the spine, so it's very comfortable to read. It's an excellent price for such high quality binding.
