Adds soul-bending thump to your big wedding system
I guess you can call me some sort of an audiophile. Perhaps everyone reading this is? Anyway, I am heavily invested in Peavey because their stuff just works pretty well, is incredibly durable and at a cost I can pay. My system has 6x12" PR12 speakers, 4x15" PVX15 speakers and it sounds great for big outdoor weddings, but for the dance floor I needed to push the volume pretty hard to get that big groove on. I knew I needed a sub, but I was depending on the 4x15" speakers to pick up the slack. The effect that I was wearing out the dancer's ears and emotional energy and in effect clearing the floor after about 15 minutes in order to bring the emotions out. This big boy allows me to get the groove on at a lower apparent sound pressure level. I just EQ everything out but the low stuff on a dedicated 600 watt channel and it easily brings the "woah" out in the experience without forcing the big 15s into their ear canals. Quality wise, it is simply a huge speaker in a box - get over it! You can buy a little better and pay a lot more chasing something ethereal, but with the exception of one amp dying on me, all my Peavey stuff is in the game for every event since I standardized on Peavey more than a decade ago. Like I said, you can go after that last 1-2 percent and spend a mint, but Peavey gets you to 95% of perfection at a reasonable cost with a lot of durability for that continuously gigging lifestyle.

Good looking sub
It arrived with damage to all the edges of the box but because it was packed well there was no damage to the speaker. Good looking sub, black carpet, nice sturdy metal grille, metal handles. I power it with a Behringer inuke 3000 and it sounds great. When I used the built in filter it did not sound that good but when I added the digital filter built in the amplifier it sounds great. I like everything about it. I learned that the price went up but it still is a great subwoofer.

Solid subwoofer, deep bass
This is not the first 18" subwoofer I have owned so I know the kind of output to expect from a speaker that size. This is a relatively typical of 18" subwoofer as far as volume goes, but the lower frequency limits are much deeper than the other subwoofers I have. This is also built well with solid corner protectors and grill. This is difficult to carry on your own due to weight and handle placement but so is every 18" dj subwoofer. This is also relatively compact compared to the other 18s I have, which is great for transportation. Overall I would buy this again and would recommend this to a friend. Update: I was carrying this last night and the person I was carrying with dropped their side from about 2 feet in the air to the concrete floor. The subwoofer survived with no loose parts or broken wood, only a dented corner protector. Update 6/27/15: I had to open the speaker today to remove some debris that had gotten in. I was fairly disappointed to see the pole mount was not actually a cap but went all the way through the cabinet which would be fine but it is actually made of cardboard! I also saw minimal polyfill inside and the speaker wire inside is only 18AWG. There is a crossover on the back plate, which surprised me because before I was running bi-amped the subwoofer would also hit the mid range. After seeing the cardboard reinforcement/pole mount, I have to knock a star off. I would still say it is a great value but personally I can't trust my mains to cardboard, so I'll stick to pole mounts for them.

Great passive sub! The lows are perfect for my drumming with CDs.
I paired TWO of the PV 118 subs with my Peavey PV 115 Mains and now I have the PA system I wanted! I use it in my basement drumming room and the sound is great. Here's my setup: CD, PC, Yamaha DT Xpress II electronic drums or any other audio input 10 channel EQ Behringer four channel mixer (just using the RCA IN/OUTS) Behringer Crossover BBE 482i Sonic Maximizer (a MUST to bring out the clarities you want to hear. Night and day difference in highs/lows) Highs out to a Samson power amplifier to drive the PV 115 Mains Lows out to Pyle 1400W power amplifier to drive the PV 118 Sub (each rated at 400W) Works like a champ! Here's a FB link to my setup (drums/PA) https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10204102444434994&l=f3d8888f44

Maybe I can make it sound better after connecting a good EQ to it
Disappointing so far I have it being run by the QSC GX5 amp using their built in crossover and it just does not thumb loud enough for me! Maybe I can make it sound better after connecting a good EQ to it!

Boom Shakalaka!
Needed some oomph to the sound in a church that had older Peavy speakers. Quite a difference and now a fulfilling sound.

Bass sounds good
I have 5 more additional speakers, ordered 2 of these speakers and made a total difference with my bass. Played them for three hours straight with the volume up… Thumbs up I’m happy.

Not much for bass
Very little bass, more a speaker than sub. I have an 18" powered yamaha and this one don't even come close.
