best sounding subwoofer of all time
Build quality - 2 starsThe speaker terminal spring on one of the terminals was stuck. Also, the outside diameter of the sub is made of plastic making it susceptible to cracking. A $500 sub should not have terminals that stick and frames that can crack if you screw it in too hard. Rest of the sub looks like quality but I expected better.Sound quality - 5 stars+Ive heard a lot of subwoofers. This takes the cake. All frequencies, no problem. Super low? No problem. Tight and accurate? No problem. Good sound at high volume. No problem. It's the type of bass your wife will actually turn up. It's the type of bass that is addictive. You will not be disappointed.Box flexibility - 5 starsAll over the Internet, you will read about 1.0-2.0 cubic foot sealed. I went total opposite, 4.0 cubic foot (after speaker displacement) with dual 4" wide x 32" long round ports tuned to 22 hz. I need it to move lots of air tuned so low. I made this box for home theatre so it needed to go low. It sounds amazing!!! This speaker can perform well in ported and sealed.Sound output - 4.5 starsI am using a 1500 watt crown amplifier to power it and it does require a decent amount to get loud. Note that the sensitivity is lower on the 15 than the 12. This sub gets loud. Everyone has different tastes but this one does it for me.Edit: I was able to fix the stuck spring terminal with some wd40. I moved the sub from my to my car in a 1.9 cubic foot sealed box with polyfill. I will never put anything else in my car. Best sound you can get. Crossover point is flexible due to its ability to play into the upper bass range. It sounds better in a car because the cone simply makes too much noise when it moves. You can't hear that in a car, just the bass. Awesome.

I LOVE THIS SUBWOOFER
I LOVE THIS SUBWOOFER!!! This is by far the best sub I've ever had. It's quick, accurate and still brutal when it wants to be. The best way to describe it is a sound quality woofer that can also get very loud. I have it on 1200 RMS. Make sure you are careful with it though. Break it in slow. I had it on 600 rms for the first month. But trust me when I say this thing slams! It's also very responsive and plays fast bass notes with ease. It can really do everything. I could gush about it forever...A couple things to keep in mind.1. Please use a quality amp for this. It's a high end sub if you're on a budget go for the fosgate prime 1200 rms at one ohm but if you have the money buy a JL HD 1200 and run at 4 oh2. Use ofc 12 gauge speaker wires (I got it to fit but I don't think anything thicker will)3. You are going to need a custom made box for this because it's closer to a 16 inch sub in size and won't fit a regular 15 inch hole without modifications and good luck finding a prefab box with enough airspace like the specs call for. Plus it needs bracing. It's made in America and woofersetc is a great company. I got my order in about 2 days. They are also an authorized dealer so you get a warranty if you buy through their site.Buy this sub NOW you will not regret it.

Plastic surround cracks.
5+ stars for the sound quality. The installer cracked the plastic surround when putting the sub in the box. I'm really disappointed the plastic cracked I'd change my review if they did something about that. I'm also having trouble finding a grill to fit it because it's so large for a 15. At the end of the day the sound quality is amazing but I'm not sure I can get over the plastic surround. Which also wouldn't be that big of a deal if mine didn't crack.Update: able to source a new bezel company is great to work with... But this issue is dumb... Requires special European screws that are extremely rare in the USA

Sub-Stage Perfection
Beautiful sub. I can't even describe how great it sounds, even if you decide to go ported. Mine is in a 6ft^3 box @27hz on 1300RMS and, when it needs to, it makes my head feel like it may pop. It always keeps its composure and never feels stressed or bellow-y. The bass is tight, loud, and powerful. Don't plan on going with any other brand or series for a lonnng time.

perfect sub for sq
Nobody makes better subs than image. Can play orchestra or blackened by metallic without distortion or sounding muddy. 3ft sealed box, arc cxl2500 to power it. Sq that gets loud enough to hurt.

Just close your eyes and listen...
I have owned a number of subs over the past 20 years, since I was 16. The older I get, the more I lean towards sound quality, and not just super loud woofers. My impressions of the IDMax15 v4 is that it does everything very well. It can go low, it can get pretty loud, and it plays very warm and clean for SQ purposes. Yet I have heard louder (my 13w7ae). I have heard tighter bass (my Audiobahn Alum12q - one of the most amazing subs in regards to ultra tight, refined bass and accuracy). I have heard lower bass (again, my 13w7ae). However, there is one thing this sub does that no other sub has done as well in my experience: Blend. It blends seamlessly with my mids to the point where if I honestly did not know better, I would think that my Diamond Hex 6.5" mids were excellently playing sub bass. It is the best blending I have ever heard from a sub. I have it in a 2.1 ft3 box, sealed, stuffed with 2 pounds of polyfil. It is run by a JL Audio HD1200/1. It sounds really great. You can easily get lost in the music. It is very smooth sounding and warm. If that is what you are going for, grab this subwoofer. For fun's sake, I will compare with my other main sub, which I monthly swap out with this one, because... well... car audio addiction. The JL Audio 13w7ae. Owning these two subs makes life very fun. And very difficult. They have very different responses. The IDMax15 lets me get lost in the music. The 13w7ae makes me get involved in the music. The IDMax makes me want to close my eyes and listen. The w7 makes me want to let go of the wheel and dance. They both wow me in two awesome ways, and they both can do what the other is great at, but they definitely just have their own characteristics that I love. I may honestly just keep these two subs 'til death do us part.I sincerely hope this review helps you, especially if you are on the fence about buying this one vs another similar high power woofer (I call these super woofers).
