The Magic Mirror: Myth's Abiding Power (S U N Y Series in the Philosophy of the Social Sciences) Paperback – Illustrated, 17 Oct. 1996

This book is quite academic, contrasting the thought of Ernst Cassirer, Barthes, Mircea Eliade, and James Hillman. Unless you're a professional philosopher, this stuff is very dense and I hate to say, quite boring. The author did a good job of explaining things clearly but if you're looking for engaging thinking about mythology, I think there's many other books I'd read before I spent time on this one.
