Great product, fast delivery.
It's a great book for a 5th grader. I thought it was a biography to fit a book report my son had to complete at school but unfortunately, it's just historical fiction. Scott was not a real soldier but it's a great book based on historical facts.

Great journal by written by a 17 year old US army private of D-Day landing and the next 2 months.
It is a miracle this guy survived. He was one of the first on Omaha beach where 90% of the soldiers were killed or wounded. The soldiers in the platoon he was with kept getting killed over the next 2 months as everyday there were new orders to take and hold a town or hill, and the Germans would fightback and counter attack with deadly Panzer tanks. He was very lucky to survive, and probably would not have had he not been wounded in the leg and sent back to England to recover. He writes about the day to day combat assignments he took part in and what it was like to be an ordinary soldier in extraordinary times. I had no idea how brutal it was after the beachhead was secured, and how much luck plays a part in who lives and who dies in battle. Nothing but respect for all who fought against the Nazis and their plan to rule the world.

Insightful and enjoyable
The books in the Dear America and My Name Is America series are truly amazing. I read almost all of them from the library when I was younger and bought my favorites to read again and again. Now I am 24, married, with a one year old daughter who I hope will read them as well! I even re-read them from time to time to this day. This particular book is, in my opinion, good but not one of the best. It is surely worth reading, however. Many other reviewers have summarized it so I won't, but I will say that what makes this book stand out is that it is written from a male perspectives. Most of the novels are about females, so this makes for a fresh view while reading the "America" books.Recommended books similar to this: Seeds of Hope: The Gold Rush Diary of Susanna Fairchild, My Secret War: The World War II Diary of Madeline Beck, Where Have All the Flowers Gone?: the Diary of Molly MacKenzie Flaherty.
