WoodlinkHM46 Hooks 'n More Weather Guard, Red, 10-Inch

As a rule, Amazon has rarely let me down with its sellers....but....something went awry with this one. I bought two. This first one arrived well packaged but the two "hooks" were impossible to separate. Enlisting my husband's assistance with his vice and heavy duty pliers, we were able to unscrew the top hook (or the bottom - they are both the same) and them use them for the intended use for the feeder cover. The problem was the the screw was so badly rusted that it resulted in having to use a vice to unscrew it. So trying to understand the problem, I figured that the product had either been stored in the seller's store for an extended period of time and exposed to a damp environment or had been stored in an Amazon warehouse for an indeterminate amount of time. Either way, the consumer (me) was faced with a challenge to use the product resorting to a vice and pliers. And so, be aware that if you do order this feeder cover, you may encounter this same situation. Hence, two stars. The red top is a sturdy painted metal and I shall see how it holds up. I am waiting for my other one to arrive as they, for some reason, were sent for arrival on two different days. I shall write a review on the second one also. Hope this review helps the consumer, Amazon , and the seller.

Doesn't shelter the bird feeder from the rain. It's not close enough to it to block out the rain. Total waste of money. I would not buy it again and need to find something better for the bird feeders.

Nice looking weather guard and the size would be perfect for my hummingbird aspects feeder but unfortunately the hooks on the guard are so big/long that it won't be shading the feeder at all. I will see if I can replace the hooks with something else so it could be useful. If the hooks were smaller I would have given this item full 5 stars!UPDATE 09/15/2016: After a couple of months of use (summer) the weather guard changed color to milky pinkish. I thought it is maybe some dirt and tried to wipe it off with dump paper towel. Unfortunately, the color is coming off and the guard is no longer shiny and red. If you are buying it for the color, do not waste your money.

This weather guard is a very useful gadget that I have added to my bird feeders. I use it to protect my flat hummer feeder. I have a clear ant barrier that small birds use for water and the hummer feeder was constantly soiled by droppings. This weather guard solved that problem and is very easy to keep clean. I am very satisfied and I know it will be useful for a very long time. Thanks, Woodlink!

This device makes the feeder go crazy in the wind. The feeder was fine before I attached this. It may look like a good idea, but in the real world, it is worse than useless. This is a big waste of your money.

I had just filled the feeder and then we had days of rain and I had diluted food. These weather guards are perfect and serve more than one purpose. Besides shielding from rain, they also shield from the sun and the bird poop from the birds who like to use the deck hanger as a perch.After installing, which was momentarily frustrating because my brain didn't immediately realize that the two hooks were screwed together and then I had the duh moment as I screwed them apart (sigh), the hummingbird gave the weather guard a couple of flybys before deciding that it was harmless enough.All is good in the hummingbird world, for the moment.

Most of my hummingbird feeders are positioned in sunny areas, and not under eaves, etc. That means, during our hot summer months here in the south, the nectar in the feeders take a beating from the constant heat. I really appreciate finding this type of 'dome' cover that provides just a bit of relief from the direct sunlight. I think the birds may have been a bit timid of it at first, but they had NO problems adjusting to it being there. Very happy with my purchase.

Some of my Hummer's aren't sure what to think...they fly up to the cover and fly around it...would probably be bets as clear or white...but I find it a little amusing. Works very well to keep the rain from diluting my nectar and that is why I got it! Will buy more.update: On the feeders where I use these, they do a good job of keeping rain from diluting the nectar, and so far I have not had any ants in those feeders. The top has some sunburn discoloration. I use these every day. A definite must if you have dilution issues with rain/fog or any issues with ants in the nectar. A Good buy!

The red surface is very smooth and durable, and the simple 'S' hook design is easy to put in place. I wish there was an option for a larger diameter baffle (I'm not sure how much protection there will be in the winter, when snow blows sideways and covers each hummingbird feeder). Have used them attached to my two hummingbird feeders under the eaves, and the birds got used to them quickly.

The S hook appears to be welded together so the cover is unusable as it can’t be hung

Worked great for 2-3 days, now every squirrel has figured out how to crawl around it and they eat all my birdseed. May try to spray the top with something they won’t like and see how that goes.
