Required reading
Hands down required reading for any fan of dark fantasy or occult fiction. Lovecraft does so much with so little. Hints and allusions become the basis for an entire mythos. The style is a bit older and almost scholarly so it gets a bit thick in places but all the more satisfying upon completion. A quick read that will help you understand so many people’s obsession with Lovecraft’s works.

A review of the illustrated book Call of Cthulhu
I stumbled upon Francois Baranger's work in "The Dunwich Horror" so when I saw "The Call of Cthulhu" it was an easy decision to buy it. This coffee table sized book is atomspheric in its art and captures the essence of Lovecraft's story. If you're a fan of H.P. Lovecraft's work then I can easily recommend this book

A phenomenal narrative that delivers in each aspect it present, with few to no letdowns.
With the creation of this tale, came the creation of an entirely new genre, and H.P. Lovecraft absolutely outdid himself with this new fiction tale. Lovecraft conveys a frightening, yet compelling, narrative which delves into ideas that seem almost completely new to mankind. After the protagonist, Francis Wayland Thurston, discovers some of his late grandfather's belongings, he finds himself in a predicament with an ancient deity, named Cthulhu, who has been slumbering for ages, and Thurston becomes wrapped into the cult that follows. While he is most descriptive, Lovecraft also leaves much to the reader's imagination, allowing them to develop this story within their minds instead of just flat-out saying it. While many, including myself, would consider this book outlandish, it is impossible to deny it a place in literature history as a wonderful tale, which challenged common thought and brought new ideas to mankind. With a cliffhanger ending that borders on absolute madness, The Call of Cthulhu delivers in every aspect that it presents within the storyline, and begot a successful series to cement itself into history.
