It is time to grow up, to be tested, tried and purified for His glory.
If you are not familiar with A.W. Pink you need to be. This is another of many great works preserved and available from his legacy. This is probably the best, biblically-based book on spiritual growth for the Christian that is available bar none! It is a must read. It is scholarly and yet not academic in the way some theologians are - the ones who leave out the "anointing of the Holy Spirit". Arthur Pink is articulate, insightful and sensitive to God's ways. Every time I read Pink I learn so much and have often been brought to my knees in contrition as the words on the page allow the Spirit to search my own heart, convicting me on several levels. But that is what we want; right? To know God's will and to do it. This comprehensive book on how we grow will yank the slack out of sincere believers who want to be tested, tried and purified.

Excellent book... BAD printing...
This is an outstanding book on the believer's spiritual growth, and for that I would give it 5 stars; it has been highly recommended from Dr. John MacArthur and has been referenced by others such as RC Sproul and John Piper. Of course it's an outstanding book, I mean, duh, it's AW Pink, but the printing of the book is horrible, and that's why I can only give it 2 stars. There are no page numbers, and the text is so full of typos that it becomes a distraction from the content; often, the word "hath" is spelled "bath;" the word "be" is spelled "me;" the word "in" is spelled "ill," just to name a few. I don't know if this book was created by a haphazard scan of another and the computer just didn't understand English that well, or if it was the rushed work of a college student pulling an all-nighter, and he just ran out of coffee.

Heavy Book on Spiritual Growth
This is the second book by A. W. Pink I have read (the first being the Attributes of God, which I highly recommend), and I have to say that this book was faith changing and spiritually stretching. Pink consistently challenges the reader with Scripture and personal exhortations and encouragement. His insights on the subject are deep, and there are many quotable quotes. Pink elaborates on growing spiritually, knowing God, Christ, and the Holy Spirit, praying, reading Scripture, mortifying sin, and many other topics.I say this book is "heavy" because I was personally enriched and challenged on so many points, and this is definitely a book I want to read and review again for further growth. There is just so much biblical wisdom!I highly recommend this book to all Christians looking to understand spiritual growth, and to grow themselves, but this work is not for the faint of heart, as it is longer and has very deep content on the subject matter.*Also, I read this book on the kindle: it had a number of typos, but usually the meaning was discernible. I would say the book is worth it for only a dollar.

He That Abides In Christ Will Bring Forth Much Fruit
A.W.Pink poses some searching questions to help the reader ascertain whether they are growing in grace(how one feels is not the barometer)the author asserts that there can be real growth in grace even if one feels inwardly that there has not been any growth: p.135"Am I denying myself now more than I did formerly? Am I less enthralled by the attraction of this world than I used to be?" One of the important aspects of measuring our growth in grace is by knowing the direction of our affections(Are we heavenly minded?,Do we mind the things of the Spirit or of the flesh? ,Are our minds and hearts set upon the things above or on the things of this world?).The essence of spiritual health and vitality is to seek to commune more closely with the one who has purchased you with His precious blood.Pink summarizes the Christians duty to live for God p.85"to die unto sin and to live unto God,and he can only live unto God in exact proportion as he dies unto sin." The grace of God enables the believer to mortify the lusts of the flesh. The saints of God are not to live after the flesh(they are not to allow their fallen sinful nature to rule over them as it does in the lives of those who are strangers to the grace of God). The author instructs us that "the way to get more grace is to make a more diligent use of what we already have" p.86.Pink sheds considerable light on the negative aspect of sanctification, that is:turning from all that is wicked in God's sight, waging constant warfare against indwelling sin, turning from self will, putting off the old man,not making provision for the flesh(starving our sinful nature),not being conformed to this world, resisting the devil and laying down the weapons of our warfare against the Sovereign Lord(to cease rebelling against Him). There is not sufficient emphasis in our generation on the necessity of separating ourselves from all that is displeasing to the Lord thus enabling us to commune more closely with the Living God.If we are to be fervent in our love for the Lord we must be determined to hate and to separate ourselves from all that is evil.Of course there is a divine aspect to growth in grace-we are completely dependent upon God for fresh supplies of grace(just as the nation of Israel in the wilderness depended upon the Lord to provide food to sustain them)but that does not negate our responsibility to earnestly seek that which we need from the Lord.Mr.Pink referring to those who will have an abundant entrance into His everlasting Kingdom is because they put "their souls interest before everything else" p.81.The author balances the theoretical knowledge of the truth and the application of its reality as well as any Christian writer that I am familiar with. 'Spiritual Growth' is certainly one of the most helpful and comprehensive treatments of this doctrine.

Convincing
This book is straight forward and uplifting. It gives a clear understanding of a path to freedom. A way to grow in grace by opening our hearts to the Holy Spirit and to be captured by his Presence in or to know him and obtain our right to have life eternal by living in His word.

Typos galore
The author’s words are wonderful, but the book itself is not great. So many typos it’s hard to read. No page numbers. I recommend the book, but not this version from whoever made it in unfortunately poor quality.

It's rich with good theology and deep thinking questions which flows from Pinks ...
Arthur pink never disappoints, and this book is no exception. It's rich with good theology and deep thinking questions which flows from Pinks firm grasp on the bible and study of what the verses really mean. The only issue I have with this book is the typos there are so many and most of them don't even make sense how they ended up with such a bad spelling mistake. Aside from that though this book is really well done and definitely worth reading multiple times.
