Quiet, Powerful, and Energy-Smart – A Cozy Winter Upgrade!
This DeLonghi Dragon heater has truly been a game-changer for staying warm during colder months. It’s quiet, efficient, and built with quality—everything you want in a space heater. Right out of the box, I was impressed by the sleek design and solid feel. The digital control panel is simple to use, and the 24-hour programmable timer adds so much convenience. The heat output is fantastic—it warms up the room quickly thanks to the smart radiator design that provides more surface area for heat to spread. What I really love is how gentle and comfortable the warmth feels. No dry air, no fan noise, and no blowing dust around. It’s ideal for anyone sensitive to dry air or allergens. The ECO Plus mode is a standout—it smartly manages power use without sacrificing comfort. You can actually feel good about running it longer because it adjusts power levels based on room temperature, helping you save on energy. It’s also very portable and practical. The built-in handles and smooth-rolling wheels make it easy to move around the house, and I’ve used it in the bedroom, living room, and even the office. And unlike many space heaters, this one looks good and blends in nicely with home decor. If you’re looking for a reliable, energy-conscious, and whisper-quiet heating solution, this one’s absolutely worth it. I’ve been warm and happy since day one!

This is not pushing out heat like we expected (UPDATED) It is now!
So, this was my first review: Please read down the the UPDATE. The unit got much better after the first power cycle. We understand this radiant heat, not an air heater, but it's not getting the job done. We put this in our office, where the three of us live most of the day, so we could turn off the house heat. Even set at 80, my wife, 6ft from the heater is still cold. Prior to this, we were using a forced air heater at about 65-67 deg. I'm wondering if we can mod this heater to remove the side fences and maybe the heat will reach further... Anyone have experience with that? UPDATED: MUCH IMPROVED PERFORMANCE After three days continuous running, we decided to power down the unit, flip it over, and examine how the side fence is connected to the unit, to see if we could simply unbolt it. Well the "fence", as I call it, is integral to the unit itself, it does not unbolt. Okay. So we flip the unit right side up, plug it back in and power it back up. Within an hour it got quite hot. Now the unit is keeping this room quite warm. In fact, you can feel the heat down the hall approaching this room. I cannot explain why the performance improved after the power cycle, but it did. Perhaps customer support or an engineer can chime in here and say why the second time 'round the unit got much hotter. So, when the unit finally got hot, it gave off a bit of an odor. Not a real bad odor, but, ironically, it smelled like something new, metal and hot. After a few hours the odor dissipated. Now the odor is completely t's gone. Other than that, we've noticed a few tiny "ping" "pop" noises when we first power up the unit. No surprise there. If room wasn't quiet, we would not have heard them. Maybe four or five pings the first two minutes of power. After that, the unit is silent. I mean, it's really quiet. If you're considering a radiant heat unit like this to replace a loud ceramic space heater, you could do much worse. I love how quiet this unit is... i mean, it's silent. And it's getting the job done. This office we live in most of our waking hours is comfy cozy warm. You don't really notice that the heater is running, you're just comfortable. You don't hear it, and you don't feel a hot blow or hairdryer effect on you like the ceramic heater or the central forced air. You only notice when you leave the room, get cold, and run back to the comfort of this warm office. If you read this review a week ago, I hope you've also read this update. I may buy a second unit for the cavernous master bath in this house. Returning to this review a few years later. I now own five of these units and I'm ordering two more today. We no longer boil water on the stove to keep the air comfortable in the house, because we're not subject to the hot dry air of our central forced air system. I've got one unit in each bedroom, one in the master bath, and one in the office. Today I'm ordering two move for the cavernous den, one for each end of the room.

Decent space heater
We have two of these. These are space heaters so they work fine for a single room heating with closed doors but they won't heat up a whole house obviously, unless you have one in each room maybe. We use one heater in a 12 x 12 feet room with high ceiling and it reaches 70F easily when outside temp is 45F. It does take a while though, ie. an hour or so. One thing to know is that it has three heat/power settings: low (600W), medium (800W) and high (1500W). The ECO mode works as follows: When ECO mode is off, if the ambient is below the thermostat setpoint is, it will use the one setting you have chosen (say medium) or 0 W when the ambient temperature reaches above the setpoint. There might be an hysteresis to prevent constantly turning on and off, I am not sure what the value is though. When ECO mode is on, it will use the most appropriate heat setting, up to a maximum which is your manual heat setting. So, if you manually select high setting and ECO mode, it will use high setting when the ambient is far below the setpoint. It will automatically switch to the medium setting when ambient gets closer to the setpoint, and it will use the low setting when very close to the setpoint. If you manually select medium setting and ECO mode, it will use medium setting when the ambient is far from the setpoint. It will automatically switch to the low setting when ambient gets closer to the setpoint. It will never use the high setting in this configuration. So this is nice if you want to prevent the heater from running at 1500W. If you manually select low setting and ECO mode, it will only ever use the low setting or 0 W. This was not clear for me in the description, so hopefully it will help others. The other thing is that, out of the two units that we have, one sometimes makes a cracking noise and one does not. So, maybe some units are better than others. I have not tried the timer mode.

Keeps room warm
It works great. Below is some basic info on oil filled radiators. I hope this helps Oil filled radiators are a great heating solution for keeping your home warm during the colder months. These heaters use oil as a heat reservoir, which is heated by electricity and then circulated around the fins of the radiator, providing a warm and comfortable environment. One of the key benefits of an oil filled radiator is the fact that they are incredibly efficient at heating a room. The oil inside the radiator has a high thermal mass, which means that it stays warm even after the electricity has been turned off. This results in less energy being used to maintain a warm temperature, which in turn leads to lower energy bills. Another great benefit of oil filled radiators is that they are very safe to use. Unlike traditional heaters, they don't have any exposed heating elements that could cause a fire or burn someone. Additionally, they don't emit any harmful gases or fumes, making them perfect for those with respiratory issues. Overall, if you're looking for an efficient, safe and reliable heating solution for your home, then an oil filled radiator is definitely worth considering. With their ability to provide consistent heat and low energy consumption, they're sure to keep you warm and comfortable all winter long.

Well-designed heater -- quiet, safe, good heat output
I replaced my old analog De'Longhi heater with this new one. I was impressed with all the improvements. The control settings are digital, which I prefer, especially being able set the desired temperature (instead of some arbitrary analog power setting). It also has a button to control the overall power setting, which I assume reduces power consumption when you don't need a lot of heat. (I live in So. Calif. so this is often the case.) I especially like that the sound of the power relay clicking on and off is pretty quiet, because I use this unit in my bedroom at night. Finally, this heater has a "shell" around the heater element that protects against accidentally touching the hot surface. I haven't used the timer capability, but apparently the timer settings are lost when the power is removed. This could be a concern for some people, so be aware. Also, I tried the eco mode, but it didn't get room warm enough, so I probably won't use that feature much. Overall, I'm very happy with this unit. I may buy another unit for my living room. My 2-bedroom apartment has gas heaters, but the price of natural gas has gone up so much, it may be more economical to use the electric heaters, because I only need to heat the room I'm in. I'll see what my heating bill is next winter.

Works good if you can get one that isn't damaged in shipping.
Great space heater, if you can get one that isn't damaged. I have bought 2 of these. Giving it 3 stars because the 2nd arrived damaged and I have to go through the hassle of shipping it back. The first one I bought works pretty well and can keep my living room a little warmer or I use it to keep the garage above freezing. Its heats up slowly, but puts off pretty good radiant heat once it is going and will keep a room or area of a larger room warm. I like that there are 3 heat settings, I usually run it on the medium setting. Note its important to have realistic expectations though. This is like having part of a old fashioned radiator and the heat builds up and starts to radiate up and out. Its not as fast to start putting out heat as a fan based space heater in my opinion, but eventually it puts off good heat. The 2nd one arrived damaged with dents and part of the box smashed and caved in. I am disappointed in the way its packed in the manufacturer's box. Only a styrofoam block protects each corner of the heater in the box and its almost impossible to unpack without breaking the styrofoam blocks. Anyway, just the corners are protected and nothing else. The manufacturer's box was then placed inside an Amazon box with one peice of packing paper, no other protection, so I'm sure it bounced around a lot during shipping and got damaged.

TOP Quality Oil-Filled Radiator
I just spent a crazy amount of time researching oil-filled radiator heaters (OFRHs), and Amazon has a LOT of them! I am reticent to admit exactly how much time I spent comparing & contrasting individual OFR heaters, because it's hard for people to understand why I am so nit picky and exacting when I research something that I'm going to buy. It's because most everything breaks or otherwise stops working now, so you have to replace many if not most mechanical / electronic items you buy (I'm beginning to wonder if there are "permanent breakdown" computer chips in some things, forcing you to buy new items every couple/few years anyway... on top of being cheap Chinese junk). In my experience, the lifespan of low to mid-range OFRHs is normally 1, at most 2 years. So a 3-year manufacturer's warranty will be great! And there's no need to buy an additional warranty because they run concurrent to the manufacturer's warranty (somewhat related side tangent: I've never dealt with Asurion, but Allstate is a total scam. If you call in with a valid claim, they will ask several questions until they hit on one that you answered the opposite of how you "should" have. Then they'll say "Sorry.. You're excluded from coverage. Just read your contract" (which basically negates and nullifies their ads, which lead you to believe you're covered. In reality, there are so many exclusions that what they are offering is nothing but smike & mirrors). Anyway, I have two parrots that I keep in an unheated room. Since they're tropical birds, and since it can get as low as 0 F or even minus 10 outside (50s in their room) it's imperative that the heat remains on for them 24/7, and every OFRH I looked at had an auto-timer shutoff at 24 hours. So to me this would mean having to start it again daily and always remember when it'd turn off. But what if some emergency happened and I couldn't get to it? This one has a 24-hr timer, and it's adjustable, but most importantly, they don't force you to have it automatically running whenever it's on and giving me one more thing I must remember to do everyday. So I think I looked at & comparrd every single OFRD on here. And generally speaking, with the cheapest ones, I've seen some reviews saying that the oil leaks out, and they smell really bad initially. I've had to regularly purshase a new one every 1-3 years even with the mid-range ones. They just simply stop working one day. Anyway, although I've only had thidls DeLonghi for about a week, I really love this OFRH. I also called their Warranty Dept and was really impessed with that too, and could tell that if you call in with a warranty issue, they're not going to ignore you. And it's an American I who I talked to (he even had perfect English!). If you pay attention to the weight of each OFRH you're comparing, you'll find that there's a big weight difference in them. You can presume from this that the heavier ones are built with thicker metal, and probably/possibly had more attention paid to it when being assembled... and also means it'll retain its heat longer than lighter ones made with thinner metal. This DeLonghi is the heaviest OFRD I found out of all on Amazon OFRHs at 26 poinds. Lighter one got down to as light as 17 pounds. Maybe even lower. Overall this OFRD feels rock solid, and it's the best one I've ever had. The ECO function is GREAT too. In the Spring when it starts warming up, there's no need to keep it on Low and just wasting electricity. But you do still want it on if it were to suddenly get cold (which can happen here). So this is a great idea to add this feature. But the absolute best thing of all is that this OFRH has a three-year warranty! This is the only OFRH I've seen with a warranty that long. That tells me that these are well put together.... good enough that they don't expect any to be coming back (or very few anyway), and that's a good sign.
