These work great, my open bottom whelping box sits on top a piece cut to fit, then I staple it to the sides of the box so it creates a snug floor. Then box with whelping mat bottom is carefully placed over two Lectro Kennel heat mats placed side by side. My pups are warm and snug those first critical days. Mom can always get out of the box. As pups grow, temperature on one heat mat can be reduced or turned off, while the other can still give a warm place for little pups to lay on. No problems and used this arrangement for years. The whelping mat can be washed in washer and air dry. It provides the perfect gentle warm insulating interface from the plastic heat mat. This whelping mat is easily cut with scissors, does not ravel, is short nap which is not scratched up with thread debris (with my small dogs) and has a durable waterproof backing. Easily cleaned and does not hold moisture at least not with bottom heat.! Made in USA!

I cut this up into a couple of pieces to fit inside a kennel I use for my house rabbit - I used to use newspaper, but who has enough of that anymore! It works great, washes great, dries pretty quickly for rotations, and still seems like new after using it for weeks. The remainder piece I stuck under my cat's litter box for those few times she pokes her butt over the edge and wets the floor - dang her. Great product!!

I really like these mats. I have bought two that are this size and one that is half this size. But there are a couple of things you should know.#1) Yes, they are water proof. So nothing UNDER them gets wet/soiled. However that puppy pee is staying right there so my puppies are getting very dirty and stinky. It is great with pups 2.5 weeks and younger but if you want to use it for a little older pups like up to 4 weeks, you will be needing to change it at least twice a day. Older than 4 weeks is not a good idea. I like it for the newborns and young pups because mom doesn't bunch it up like she does a blanket. I am a breeder and some of my mamas can't leave a blanket flat. They have to bunch it up and I am really afraid of pups getting stuck in the blanket and her laying on them. So this product is perfect for that. They are content to let it be. I have used this product for 5 litters now so I do have some experience with it.#2) The size. I bought the raised garden bed for a whelping box. The measurements on it are 48" by 48". This mat is 48" by 100". The smaller size is 48" by 50". Buying the bigger one and cutting it in half is a money saver. But the 48" is the exact size as the the whelping box. So the 50" size tucks under the whelping box nicely but the 48" inch side does not. That's a little frustrating. It would be perfect if it was 50" wide by 100" long or the smaller size to be 50" x 50". I can deal with it but that is the reason I am giving the 4 star. This should have been thought of in manufacturing.Finally I'll mention that it does get a little "fuzzy" with each wash. Most can be pulled off so it isn't a big deal to me. It does wash nicely and is easy on my washing machine.Overall I am pleased with the product. I use it as is until pups are 2.5 weeks of starting to walk. I do like to put area rugs under anything I use for cushion and comfort. So this mat protects anything under it. When the pups get older and the pee is making them sticky and stinky. I put a blanket on top of the mat. So the pee goes through the blanket and the mat still keeps the area rug under it clean and protected. The blankets are easy to change and wash.Yes I will buy again. Wish they would change the size and there was a bit of a learning curve. Hopefully less now for anyone else.

The quality was pretty thick. It was soft. The dark color help to hide puppy urine. I was able to wash them pretty easily and I hung dry them. The texture on the material made it easier for the puppies to grip the floor and walk around a little as they were building their strength and their legs. It fit perfectly on the bottoms of my whelping box. It was great puppy protection from my floors. The appearance is kind of a black gray textured surface. I would definitely recommend this to anyone that is having a litter of kittens or puppies or any kind of animals that are small.

These mats are great, I've used them for my last two litters and the can just be wash in the n=machine and hang dried. I have purchased two different sizes one size for the whelping box and one size for the playpen. I keep several on hand so they can be changed and the others can be washed.

The mat is so easy to cut to fit your desired size and shape. It also provides good grip for puppies to move around and get to mom or warmth. They are also absorbent and easy to wash and reuse. We liked it so much we purchased another one for the next litter. Overall, the mat is light weight and works well for our needs.
