First off I would like to address the odor issue. I almost did not purchase it by the reviews of people saying the chemical smell was horrific. My bed had a very and I mean very faint smell to it. My engineer husband explained this is called out-gassing or off-gassing, similar to new car smell which fades in time. The plastic in the outer part of the bed dries first and then the center dries which causes the smell. It does go away and it is not dangerous. I need to repeat the smell was barely noticeable and is now gone. I must have looked ridiculous sniffing the bed all over. Next point reviewers complain about is it doesn't get hot enough. At first the heated cushion doesn't feel overly warm. When my cat decided to finally emerge (he literally jumped right in when I set it up) It was nice and warm to the touch. You do not want to cook your cat. This is just 4 watts, very low heat but it raises the temperature to where cats are super comfortable, cozy, warm and safe. It is well made and it wasn't hard to zip together, just lay each piece side by side. I absolutely love it! There is plenty of room, my cat that claimed it is a big boy, he was able to sit up inside the pod to groom himself and while lying down there was plenty of room for him. A wonderful safe retreat most cats will adore. 2 of my 4 furbabies have been in it and the other 2 are more cautious but I know they will give it a try. I have different versions of K&H heated beds all over my house and the cats adore them as much as I do. I highly recommend this cool looking pod!

Our little furry guy Luchi is the poster child for cats not liking change. He reacts to a box delivered by UPS being set in the entry hall as a major life altering event... he'll walk in the hall, see the box and freeze. Yet with this cat pod, it was 180 degrees the other way. We put it together, put it on the floor, plugged it in and were in the process of placing a towel and a couple small items to simulate his weight in it to test the heater... and he came prancing in the room, made a beeline for the Dream Pod, jumped right in, sniffed- sniffed-sniffed, then rubbed his face all over the opening. He did the routine he does when he plans to lie down and curl up (turn, turn, turn), and then he plopped right down. Within seconds he closed his eyes and was deep into a nap. This is an absolute first - it normally takes him forever to warm up to a cat product, if he ever does. He's already been in and out of it multiple times, so this wasn't a one-shot fluke, either... he loves it! As for reviewing the product itself, it's lightweight yet sturdy, a perfect size for a small to medium sized cat, and the chemcial smell some other reviewers have mentioned is next to non-existant. It's almost like a new car smell, and it's so faint we had to put the product right up to out noses to smell it. The heater is very low powered, and does not put out a whole lot of heat. Some reviewers have complained about this, but if you read the product description you know it's not supposed to. It's just enough to keep a cat warm without overheating them. The one minor quibble we have is that it did take two of us to hold the pod together to get the zipper started, but that is truly a very minor quibble. If you can't tell, we're very impressed and very happy with Luchi's new Dream Pod. More importantly, so is he!

It's a good product, but it could be better. The temperature it heats to is satisfactory, and the construction is practical without being an eyesore, though it could look more fashionable. It seems very durable, specifically the bed's exterior.I wish it was slightly bigger. I have two adult cats, one small and one medium. They barely fit into it together. It's enough of a squeeze that they get upset with each other and fight over it.Lastly, I think the cushion is not plush or wide enough. It slides around a little in the bed, and needs to be bigger or have more padding inside the pillow.Overall, good and gets the job done. A few weeks in and I have no major complaints. Prefer the price when on sale, but it's not too expensive considering it seems to be the safest on the market.

Need to get another one because they don’t want to share even though it’s big enough, great purchase! Don’t get this unless you’re okay with your cat being in bed all day, and my cats don’t usually like covered beds like this. I love that the bed doesn’t get hot when they’re not using it, I feel safe leaving it plugged in overnight using my surge protected plug-in.
