mydome Wireless Driveway Alarm 2 PIR Motion Sensors with Plug In Receiver

I was replacing a previous driveway alert, which after many years of good service no longer worked because the PIRs were defunct. Of the replacement devices the Guardline system looked to be the best in terms of features and reliability but then I spotted this system. The fact that all the reviews were positive actually made me suspicious. However, the price was so very reasonable and if it was rubbish it would go straight back!There is a reason this is getting good reviews. It works really well and is inexpensive.First good point, batteries are included. The build quality is excellent. There are some design decisions that show this is a well thought out product. For instance, the mounting screws are stainless steel - ideal for outdoor use. The mounting bracket has a brass insert, which again will mean that corrosion will not be a problem and all mounting hardware is provided. Being really really really picky the wall plugs could be better and the included screwdriver should be a crosshead. The receiver plugs straight into a standard outlet and is sized so that it will not obstruct the other outlet in a 2-gang socket or the switches, so no power adaptor and cables. This is REALLY well designed.The instructions are clear and accurate. Setting up the alarm is simplicity itself. Choose a tone (more about these later), hold the volume button for a few seconds, activate the PIR and pairing is complete. There are 52 alarm tones to choose from. In reality, I could only tolerate about 10 of them but if you don't mind musical chimes then there are plenty to choose from and the sound quality is pretty good, you also get a visual alert (in time to the music!). There are four levels of volume control that should suit most people in all but the noisiest environments. Two rooms away, I could still hear the alert above the sound of a boiling kettle.Well-designed, easy to set up but how does it perform? With thick walls and vegetation between the receiver and the transmitter I did not expect to get anywhere near the stated range of 150m. The fact I got half this was a pleasant surprise indeed! This kit has doubled the detection range of my previous system for less than half the price! I do get a very few false alarms caused by birds and squirrels because the main sensor is set low to pick up the heat from vehicle exhausts so this is to be expected. Gales with gusts of more than 70mph produced only a few false alarms from moving vegetation. More importantly the Mydome has registered every vehicle and person entering the property to date.This product really deserves its Amazon Choice rating.

Regrettably in the time since I wrote the review below two of the four sensor units I purchased have failed and despite replacing batteries and though repeatedly going through the pairing process it is impossible to reconnect them to the receiving unit.Two are still working well but losing the other two has meant that on two of my doors are without any proximity warning.Those that work are excellent but those that have defected ( within two weeks ) are now just house wall ornaments and not pretty ones at that..**************************************************************************************************************The Sensor are when positioned do detect any motion within the area and broad space they are advertised to cover, however only four meters ( 23ft ) from the receiver unit the signal would not penetrate my stone house walls and I had to bring the sensor to a point much closer and to a location directly over a window to make it work at all. The sensor is now not where I had wanted it to be and thus the area covered is much reduced.I have realised that due to this problem that may in truth be determined by the materials within my house walls and the consequential need to locate them with a direct through glass lineup to the receiver unit I will need three sensors though I had presumed two would have been adequate to cover the two entrances to the house.I have ordered one more sensor though I wish I could have ordered another receiver unit as if what I suspect is correct about the distances and the signal penetration from the sensor to the receiver unit then the sensor I had intended to position to cover my driveway will not have the required signal strength to reach any single receiver unit.I could not test the validity of this theory BECAUSE,There were two sender sensors in the pack and one receiver.One of the sensor senders did and still will not pair with the receiver unit.However; to their credit My Dome upon taking my telephone call immediately took action and dispatched a replacement by Royal Mail that will reach me cost free within the next few days.They 'MyDome were very helpful. Not so much the AMAZON delivery driver who left the garden gate open letting my aging dogs onto what is a very busy country lane. SHAME ON YOU AMAZON !!!!

Nice item but only seems effective to about 15 feet.

Brilliant product, that resolves an issue caused by couriers dropping parcels on the doorstep, but not ringing the doorbell. Many hours later, if its not been stolen, you discover a wet parcel if its been raining. This clever device from mydome now lets us know that someone is approaching the house, via the compact and neat flashing and ringing plug-in hub. When fitting the first PIR Sensor, I encountered an issue with the nut securing the ball and socket joint on the bracket. An hour and twenty minutes after emailing mydome, received a response confirming that a replacement nut had been posted to me via Royal Mail 48 - what fantastic support! I suspect that we will be purchasing more products from this company.

Well i've had these installed for a week now and i was impressed by the initial ease with witch they were set up etc. However after being surprised again today by someone arriving at the door "Without" any warning from this thing i am beginning to think they don't work well or are too random to be trusted? and initially the one i placed at the back did not work at all unless you were 6 inches away. I tried replacing the batteries from the ones supplied but made no difference. now it goes of at random when a bird or something pases by? Not impressed right now and for £40 with post i wish i had just bought something else?Support claims to be good and an e mail arrived promptly claiming they tried to ring me but no such calls have been made to me here in Ireland? Im from UK etc So to sum up, brilliant idea when it works, too unreliable to be trusted. buy something else

This product is used for over 3 years without any problems and works every time. Excellent quality!

Just fix and set-up, your good to go.

It works ok most of the time with limited range, after installing and using it I regret buying it due to its reliability being erratic
