The Wheel of Time, Boxed Set II, Books 4-6: The Shadow Rising, The Fires of Heaven, Lord of Chaos

Cost efficient way to read the wheel of time books. The books were well made - e.g., the pages were did not rip or fall out despite the abuse they went through (they are big, long books that you will wind up carrying around for a long while). The type is small for some, but I had no issues. The story itself is also very interesting. I will note that Jordan’s (and then Sanderson’s) writing tends to use 20 words where 3 will suffice (which is something that got worse the further you got into the books). I had some other issues with the style, but that did not stop me from reading all of the books, so take my criticism for what it is worth.

This fantasy adventure series by Robert Jordan is a really good read. The books are big, but action moves nicely. The introduction of a few characters with each book is not overpowering. Ther are beautifully illustrated maps. You will enjoy this series.

I read the first book, The Eye of the World, several years ago in paperback when it first came out but didn't understand the ending too much because a big chunk, several pages, had gone missing from the book at some point about two thirds of the way through the book. I was able to get the first book again, after getting the 12th one through a book club not realizing it wasn't the first, but this time in hardcover with all the chapters/pages in place. Due to financial problems, I went to the library to get and read the second and third in the series before getting the money to buy the boxed set of 4-6. This is a series I cannot put down. I've averaged about a week to ten days in getting through each book so far and love it. The boxed set I got from Amazon, I was told would come in anywhere from 4-21 days once shipped. Having ordered a book online from somewhere else before it took almost 2 months to get it. This set I got within 7-10 days - of ordering! Haven't checked to see if they're missing pages but from what I've seen so far they are in great condition and would buy through Amazon again. If you like Tolkien, this is definitely an author and series to check out. Love it! Thanks Amazon.

Heb deze boeken besteld na het verslinden van de eerste 3. Ik wilde graag een fysiek grotere versie van de boeken hebben omdat dit makkelijker lezen is. Helaas laat de afbeelding een onduidelijk beeld van de boeken zien. De boeken zijn langwerpig en zijn van slechte materialen gemaakt, het voelt goedkoop. Deze boxset is dan ook niet echt premium. De boeken zelf zijn geweldig! Heb alleen het 4e boek gelezen maar het bouwt perfect verder op het huidige verhaal, zeker een aanrader!
