Very compact 5TB drive, not much thicker than your typical 1/2TB HDDs, good quality build, links up easily with a fairly short (but still decently sized!) USB cable. Overall really happy with mine, fits in my laptop bag fine so its great for storing my music projects and plugins etc on the go!

After three years of use it's proved to be reliable and fast. I know that if my computer breaks down or is stolen, all my files are safely stored in a drive that's small enough to be easily hidden away from thieves. It's as fast as any other disk drive I've owned.

cant fault this external hard drive. plug n play, no installation. nice and small, sits comfortably next to my computre. no issues with speed.

There does seem to be quite a few negative reviews for Segate drives in general here.I have no connection with Segate nor any other vested interest, but I would say I've had literally dozens of their drives over the years and only ever had one failure.Also worth pointing out that almost every other make and model have similar comments, if not quite as many. I guess people are more likely to post negative comments when they have suffered a failure of some kind?More recently, I've been using these 2.5" USB 5TB drives for video library use. They don't get hammered, but do cope perfectly well for this fairly demanding use.No storage device is ever 100% reliable nor lasts forever. So, whilst I do sympathise with those folk who have lost valuable data, I would always advocate BACKUP, BACKUP and BACKUP!Generally, have AT LEAST one copy of everything, preferably kept in another physical location. That way, when the inevitable eventually happens, you won't get that deep sick feeling that all your important data is lost forever.I will keep buying these 2.5" USB3 drives as they are compact, fast (for my use) and cheap enough to have another one elsewhere as backup.

Good quality easy to connect to PC or iMac transfer speed a really fast and works well and is a good size

I've quite a number of Seagate portable drives; I use them for file and system backups and archiving and, so far, never had one fail on me. This one is attached to my TB4 docking station as a backup repository for video files (the full project set for projects I'm currently working on, reduced to just the final render once all completed). It's too slow to use for actual editing (I use a 2TB SSD in a Thunderbolt 4 enclosure for that), but fine for periodic backups. I also have a 2TB one attached for TimeMachine backups (and several more, of various capacities, in various locations as air gapped backups/archives - just in case). These latter ones weren't originally bought for that purpose but, once their original use was past (or were now too small), they were too good to discard and perform their new role faultlessly.

I bought a cheap version on Amazon External Portable USB3.1 2TB External Portable Hard Disk 2TB for PC, tried to back things up on it and failed each time. So wanted something reliable. Bought this and plugged it in and copied files from my desktop PC as 3rd backup. Quickly copied these files. So added a whole lot more. Plugged it into my Samsung phone and had immediate access to the files on it. Just what I wanted. So far so good. My advice is buy a proper make like this one and not a cheap one. Also, got a nice case to protect it all. Happy chappie.
