Neopets Petpet Adventures: The Wand of Wishing

Well, it's certainly a very cute game, and oh boy, does it bring back memories. I played on the Neopets website all the time as a kid. The item and gear system is actually pretty detailed, with multiple attack types, ranged, magic, melee, and a variety of armor, spells, weapons, etc. The combat feels a little slow and sloppy, as there's no way to lock onto enemies, so ranged weapons and magic require careful aim. Although... that's hard because it's a top-down perspective, and most spells don't rapidfire, meaning you have to aim very carefully with the first strike.Melee is really slow, and more or less consists of just trading blows, as blocking still makes you take a considerable amount of damage, and the enemy can just keep attacking. That means when trading, you need better weapons or more health than the boss, or have a lot of healing items equipped.The questing system is pretty cookie-cutter for a RPG, no complaints about that.The voice acting is mediocre, some voices are great, others are cringe-inducing.Overall, it's certainly a Neopets game, and I'd recommend this to any Neopets fan.

I gave this game a 5 stars because my 8 year old daughter can't put it down. It's very challenging and you get to create your own character. Not violent in any manner and it's very fun to watch her play. Would definitely recommend this game to anyone.

bought it as a present for my wife. Haven't heard from her since Christmas, so I'm pretty sure she likes it. Every time I see her, she's playing it.

Everyone is right. Loading takes for ever, but is so wonderful! Plays much like Zelda.

...and I'm an adult. Sue me.That said, the game has great (cuuuute!) graphics, real-time combat, 3-D environment, lots of pretty items to collect, plenty of choices on how to play (smart mage, tough fighter, ranger vs melee vs mage, etc), and a fairly interesting story line.no comment yet on how long the game is - if it's like Popolo Crois, it's gonna be too short, and I suspect that's how RPGs for PSP tend to be. all the games for psp cost too much at first release.Load times - they're kept to a bare minimum while in towns and dungeons, no loading during fights or while opening chests and stuff, but the time ya gotta wait while entering a new area is kind of a pain. So far I'm using the break to go stretch my legs or use the bathroom, it's that long.my only real complaint about the game is there arent enough player avatars and there's no customization (well, you can dress them up, but that's it), aaaand all the avatars are cat-creature thingies (even tho one claims to be a dog-fox cross - I have a friend who will plotz over the stupidity of combining dogs and foxes... )so, ok, kids game with all the basic limitations - short list of avatars, no perspective control, most of the action is seen from above, and absolutely no blood or gore of any kind. It's still got lots to do, lots to see, and the promise of much eye-candy to come.
