Worked just fine for me
I ordered the Wilton Chocolate Pro 3-tier chocolate fountain to use at my son's 16th birthday party. I was a little worried after reading some of the other reviews. But, I had the mind set that I would use it once, and if it didn't work, I'd toss it in the trash because I couldn't have rented one for the night for the price I paid anyway. I am happy to report that I had NO problem with it at all. I made sure it was level by using the attached level. That was easy! I heated it for about 20 minutes. While it was heating, I melted the chocolate chips in zip lock bags mixed with a little oil. I did not use that expensive "fondue" chocolate. I just used good old fashioned chocolate chips. I then poured the melted chocolate into the bottom of the fountain. It was melted just fine, but seemed a little thick, so I put some more oil in it. I stirred it and turned the knob and it flowed beautifully. I mean, every now and then it would "curtain" or open a little on the bottom layer, but to me that was not a big deal. I think I started out with 5 bags of melted chips, and later I added 2 more because I didn't want the chocolate level to get too low. Some other people wrote that it was loud, but I didn't think so. If you were in a totally quiet room, then yes, you could probably hear it running. But, it was not distracting at all...sort of like a fan running. My fountain ran for at least 4 hours, and there were about 60 people at the party, and we didn't have one single issue with it. I used marshmallows, pretzel rods, strawberries, and rice crispie treats with mine. It was a HUGE hit with the 16 year old girls....they went on and on about how much they liked it!! Several of the boys tried it out too, and everyone seemed to enjoy it. One hint - even with napkins and plates and long skewers, the chocolate will drip on the table. So, you probably don't want a white table cloth. What I did was use a dark blue table cloth (plastic!) and then I layed a few dark blue paper napkins around the base of the fountain. Every now and then I'd just throw them away and put some fresh ones down. That was just because I wanted it to look clean all night, and was just my own preference. But, you can expect drips. When it was time to clean up, I just dumped the left over chocolate into a garbage bag. I then took the middle pieces out and rinsed them off and put them into the dishwasher. I used a wet dish towel to wipe out the bottom. It just wasn't the horrible experience I had read about. Well worth the money I spent.

wilton chocolate fountain pro
This fountain is really nice. I bought it for use in my wedding. It's really easy to use and a great hit. I don't have any major problems with it, but there are a few things I wanted to put in a review that I would have liked to see in reviews when I was researching this product. Make sure you use 4 pounds of chocolate at one time. We wanted to test out the fountain and the chocolate we bought to make sure we liked it, but we didn't want to use a whole four pounds so we only used two. It works fine, you just won't have enough chocoloate to make the fountain really flow. It never said on the pacakge whether you HAD to use four pounds at once or that the capacity was UP TO four pounds so we wanted to test that out, too. It is best to use four pounds. Also the motor in the fountain is a little noisy and it's a constant noise. It's not terribly loud, but it is there. Clean up isn't too hard with this fountain, either, though it does take some time. You have to turn the fountain off and let the chocolate cool before you can start clean up, so that takes a little bit of time. But you also can't forget about it or let it cool too long or the chocolate will harden and ruin the fountatin. You also can't pour the chocolate down the sink, so you need another method of disposal. The base cannot be submerged in water, so you just wipe out the chocolate with a rag or paper towel. When I cleaned out the plastic fountains peices, I filled the sink with hot, soapy water and soaked them for a little bit before I tried to clean them. That made them easier to clean. This fountain is a really good fountain and I highly recommend it!

I was afraid of getting it but now I am so pleased I did it!
Hi everyone, I bought the chocolate fountain for my daughter's Bday. I wasn't sure how to use it and was literally afraid that it wouldn't work properly. To add to my stress, my husband wasn't very enthusiastic. Well, the machine was totally easy to assemble, I did it myself in about 3 minutes. Melting the chocolate is what took more time and required more attention since you don't want it burned. I would recommend doing it at least one hour prior to your event. I melted about 4 pounds (2 big bags). However, it took me more time because I melted smaller portions until I got everything melted. I wouldn't turn on the machine until you have all the chocolate melted. Just leave it on heating setting and place the chocolate on it as you melt it. I got a pretty decent flow, it didn't look exactly like the photo on the box though. Probably I would need one more pound of chocolate to get that effect. However, I got to say that it was a wonderful addition to my party, the kids loved and I was very pleased. Good product for the money. It is also easy to clean up. My husband did it and told me that it took him about 5 minutes. I didn't believe at first but it make sense when you do it IMMEDIATELY after turning off the machine. I hope my advice helps you in your decision. Have fun!!!

Great Product!
I read through a lot of reviews on many different chocolate fountains before purchasing the Wilton 2104-9008. I was trying to test it out before our Halloween party but didn't have time. I purchased the Wilton chocolate and didn't have to use any oil. After I poured the melted chocolate in the fountain, I turned the knob to run and crossed my fingers. It ran perfectly. It truly flowed just like the picture. It was a big hit at our party. I ran it for 3 hours and had no problems. For cleanup, I salvaged what I could of the chocolate left, and then took it apart to clean. 5 minutes seems about right with some hot water. Once you get the tiers off and the auger, just tilt the base on the side of the sink and use a sprayer to wash out. Tips: Make sure the base is level before you turn it on. It has three adjustable feet and a bubble to show you when it is level. Make sure the chocolate is completely liquified. The fountain will keep the chocolate hot. The fountain runs by an auger, not a pump. The motor turns the auger and it brings the chocolate to the top. It holds four pounds of chocolate. The more chocolate you put in the fountain, the more coverage (flow) you will get. I have only used Wilton Chocolate or ChocoMaker Chocolate . I would only recommend you use chocolate that is made for fountains. You don't have to add oil or anything. Just melt and pour it in. Use skewers for dipping (Wal-Mart sells 100 skewers for $1). Keep an eye on your fountain and remove any fallen debris. I just take a skewer and run it around to find anything that may have fallen in. As your chocolate gets used, the fountain will start having gaps in coverage. This is normal. Definitely worth purchasing. The fountain is very reasonably priced and it runs great and flows just like the picture. Update: It has been two years now since I bought this fountain. I just used it for my daughter's birthday party and it still works just as new. It has been used about 10 times now since I bought it.

Love it!
It was my 1st time using and purchasing a chocolate fountain but I am so glad I purchased this. Super easy to set up/use and clean (just be sure to clean it right after you are done, don't let it sit). I did preheat the fountain for about 20-30 minutes prior to use like others recommended before putting the melted chocolate in. Be sure to level the chocolate so it flows evenly. This worked perfectly and was not noisy at all. Major hit at my daughter's sweet 16. I used with 4lbs of chocolate melts and it lasted for about 4hrs.

Grad party hit!
We purchased this for my daughter high school graduation open house. It worked beautifully and was a huge hit at the party. I used 6 bags of chocolate chips (Ghirardelli: 2 semi-sweet, 2 dark, & 2 milk) with a cup of avocado oil. It was the perfect balance and flowed great! I plugged in machine and set it to heat up while I melted the chips and mixed in the oil. Once it was melted, I added it to the machine and switched it to flow. It was a little gapped for the first minute as it adjusted but then flowed without any breaks in the stream….until towards the end of the night when we used up most of the chocolate. It ran for nearly 9 hours straight without an issue. I could hear the motor but it was not overly loud. My ice machine is louder. Really easy clean up! We will definitely be using this again at future events!

Purchased Wilton Fountain for Sweet 16 Party
I purchased this Wilton Chocolate Pro 3 Tier Fountain in 2012 for my daughter's Sweet 16 Party. (Thought I posted a review back then & was going to update the review, but I don't see it here) Anyway, the fountain was relatively easy to put together, use and clean up after use. I will say that we had a little difficulty getting it "Level" but the fountain functioned properly and created a beautiful presentation! I used both fountain chocolate and chips with oil to keep it thin enough to keep the flow going without any real issues, just make sure to keep enough chocolate in the base at all times, and stir the chocolate inside the base to be sure nothing is caught up. For my daughter's 16th Party, I had everything from lots of fresh fruit, graham crackers, marshmallows, rice krispie treats, pretzels, Vanilla wafers...if you could dip it, I had it available......this fountain was a huge hit with everyone!!! I used the fountain again for Christmas Eve the same year, (again no real issues except leveling) and again on Christmas Eve this past year (2013) and again, no real issues to speak of, always a big hit and everyone always excited about coming over because of the fountain! Now, my issue with this fountain and the reason I gave it only 3 stars is because, although I have had this fountain for nearly 2 years now, I have only used it a total of 3 times...always cleaned it properly, placed back in box and put away until the next event. I pulled it out yesterday for my daughter's 18th Birthday Celebration, after having purchased all the food for dipping, set everything up, melting the chocolate, pre-heating the base as instructed again...and the fountain did not work at all! The motor is shot! Made a terrible buzzing noise and the auger would not turn, not even when we took it apart, cleaned it all out tried again. I wasted lots of chocolate and had a bunch of teenagers very disappointed & waiting over and hour and a half to finally have to tell them that there would be no fountain. :-( I eventually just refilled the base with chocolate, kept the base on preheat to keep the chocolate warm and told them to use a spoon to cover items with chocolate. Problem with that scenario (along with the obvious) was that the base did not stay warm after that either, of course that chocolate began to harden and was wasted too. So, again, although I have had this for 2 years, having only used this product 3 times and having it stop working completely is pretty ridiculous. It did work beautifully the 3 times I was able to use it, which is why I gave it 3 stars. Likely would not purchase again though, figured for as little as it was used, it would have lasted for years and years, not only 3 times.

Highly recommend!
Love this fountain. I ordered it for my son’s 9th birthday party and it was a hit with all of our guests. It was easy to set up and use. I used the Wilton chocolate and it melted and tasted great! Highly recommend. One tip is that it is preferable to finish all the chocolate in the fountain and wash right away. It is lots of work to clean if the chocolate cools off too much.

Wow!!!!!

easy assembly
I did like this machine. works well and is easy to put together. Cost's seem high for an occasional product.

It didn't work well
Only the bottom bowl is heated, not the plastic body. The chocolate kept clumping up, we had to switch to heat setting (turning off circulation) periodically to let it accumulate in the metal bowl and we can heat it again. I think the body should also be heated so the chocolate keeps running.
