The KNIPEX 7 1/4-Inch Pliers Wrench is an incredibly versatile tool that combines the function of pliers and an adjustable wrench. The smooth jaws grip flat surfaces without damaging nuts or fittings, making it great for precision work. The adjustment mechanism is quick and easy, allowing for a perfect fit on different sizes. It feels extremely well-built and durable, as you would expect from KNIPEX. A fantastic tool for both professionals and DIY users.

A must for anyone using their hands!
Absolutely outstanding tool. The KNIPEX Pliers Wrench lives up to the hype. Build quality is exceptionalโsolid, precise, and clearly made to last. The jaws grip fasteners perfectly without rounding corners, and the smooth adjustment mechanism makes switching sizes quick and easy. It replaces several wrenches in one compact tool, which saves space in the toolbox and time on the job. The handle is comfortable, and the overall balance feels great in hand. Whether for plumbing, automotive work, or general repairs, this is one of those tools you buy once and keep for years. Highly recommended.

High quality and great design
If you need a pliers wrench, this is the best one on market. Very high quality workmanship, forged steel, fit and finish are flawless, hardware smooth, handles have quality coated grips, machined surfaces are precise as are the forged surfaces. No unreasonable slop, and no binding. The jaws meet dead on. The design in my opinion is superior to all others I've seen in this style as well. Very well thought out, it's perfection! I think Knipex is the the first with this design as well, proving there's still opportunities to innovate on plier type tools that have been around for hundreds of years. Well done Knipex! Like all the Knipex pliers wrenches, it will reliably grip a hex head or nut, sheet metal (for bending), or just clamping and gripping flat objects. The 12" pliers wrench I'm reviewing was useful at all detent positions, and most handle grip positions. In most instances, selecting the next detent will bring the handles to the optimal size. I think the 12" and 7" are going to be your most useful sizes of this tool, I now own both, as well as the Cobras. Keep in mind these have flat jaws, so they're no going to dig into a workpiece, which may be useful for plumbing fixtures, but not as much for rounded parts. I think any tool bag should have both style tools in these sizes. Are they better than other tools on the market? For years, I've always used Channellock products, and they're high quality and made in the USA too, but as far as I know, they don't yet have this style of tool. Regardless of the design, I've found the forged steel and hardening of the German made Knipex tools to be a little better optimized vs. the US made Channellock and Klein, but overall similar in quality of the forged parts and the machining (Klien does have a pliers wrench out now, but I didn't care for the design). Without metallurgic testing, this is just my opinion, but I have no complaints for the steel alloy, hardness and toughness of any of these tools. I will say (the newer and non chromed) Channellock's tools are far more rust resistant than Knipex. Channellock applies a layer of varnish on their tools. Of course, I did buy the black phosphate Knipex vs. the chrome. I don't want chrome chipping off my tools. Rust and corrosion proofing is something Knipex should work on improving even with non-chrome tools. You know corrosion is an issue when you receive you new black Knipex, and they're in a plastic bag, covered in oil (the handles are not, but the metal is soaked). I've never seen this packaging with the US made tools, but it's common with tools from China. Also, it goes without too much elebroation that the Knipex tools are superior to similar tools coming out of Taiwan and China. On the other hand, you do have to pay for the quality, as these 12" pliers wrenches are at least 7x more expensive than the ones sold at Harbor Freight. Are they 7x better, no, I doubt it, but if your workpiece is a multi-million dollar piece of equipment or if you're in a situation where it's life and death depending on if you can repair your vehicle (such as out in the middle of nowhere), I'd want the Knipex. That, and I'm sure the resale value of this tool will always be good. Please understand that these tools will not always replace an open end wrench or socket, and in most applications it can't. In fact any adjustable tool typically won't fit into tight confinements and/or apply the torque needed. For those instances where the tool will fit and can apply the necessary torque, the pliers wrenches are excellent, and like I said, this is the best of the best. Will these replace an entire set of open end wrenches? Yes, in some cases. Can you change the spark plugs on your car with them? No way, but you might pull off changing the oil. (btw, this is not recommended, please use a proper socket on a drain plug, if not for you, the next guy who buys your car.) Recommendation.., 5 stars, and a must have tool for any technician. For a do it yourselfer, or as a junk drawer family use tool, this is a great tool to have, but probably it's overkill. Let's face it, if it's in your junk drawer, it's going to get lost or stolen, and will probably rust. This is a serious professional grade tool. For myself, it's an everyday carry in my tool bag, and my tool bag does not contain any open end wrenches.

Precision and quality โ compact but mighty!
I recently picked up the KNIPEX 7 1/4-Inch Pliers Wrench (model 8601180) after hearing so many good things about this online, and I have to say โ it lives up to the reputation. Build Quality: Like other KNIPEX tools I own, the fit and finish are top-notch. The black finish looks great and feels durable. The jaws line up perfectly, and the adjustment mechanism is smooth and precise. Thereโs no play or slop, which really inspires confidence when you need to grip something tightly without marring the surface. Performance: This pliers wrench is excellent for light to moderate fastening tasks, especially where you donโt want to damage chrome or delicate fittings. It works well as an adjustable wrench replacement, and it grips more securely than many traditional crescent wrenches. The parallel jaws are a brilliant design โ they apply even pressure and help avoid rounding nuts or fittings. Comfort & Ergonomics: It feels great in my hand โ the handles are comfortable even during firm squeezing. The only minor downside for me is that this particular size is a bit smaller than I expected. Itโs perfect for tight spaces and smaller fittings, but if youโre often working with larger nuts or need more leverage, you might want to go up a size. Value: KNIPEX tools are definitely an investment โ theyโre more expensive than some other brands โ but the quality, precision, and long-term reliability justify the price in my opinion. Itโs one of those tools that feels good every time you pick it up. Final Thoughts: If you need a compact, precise, and versatile pliers wrench, this is an excellent choice. Just be sure to match the size to your usual tasks โ I love this one for small to medium jobs, but I might add a larger one to my toolbox soon. โ Would I buy it again? Yes โ and Iโm already eyeing the larger size! โ Would I recommend it? Absolutely, especially for anyone who appreciates well-made hand tools that last.

Awesome tool thank you Knipex
These are better than open end wrenchโs because they let you clamp down on the fastener. An open end wrench is still the best tool most times but these cannot be touched for climbing up high and not knowing what size fasteners youโll be faced with. Itโs like hauling your entire wrench drawer with you. I canโt believe how good they work itโs something elseโฆ worth their price all day.

Do yourself a favor and try a new type of wrench. One of my best tool purchases. Expensive, but that's the nature of quality made tools.

The best tool ever
I bought these about 8 months ago, and theyโve been right with me every single work day in my shirt pocket and many regular days. I work facility maintenance at a weld plant (mostly HVAC, electrical, controls, etc.). With these, my trusty extended reach Klein 6 in 1, and my Cobra ES pliers, thereโs very little that canโt be disassembled or adjusted with ease. Anyway, they are perfect for maintenance. I use them to turn things, crush things, hold things, bend things, you get the idea.. The flat parallel jaws are perfect for not completely destroying what youโre working on. The fit and finish are exceptional. The smoothness of operation is exemplary (especially smooth after a few months of regular use and oiling), I often find myself playing with the pliers like a fidget toy. Iโve even used them as a hammer in a pinch a few times and it didnโt hurt them, theyโre extremely tough. The button adjustment is quickly and easily done one handed, just sit the lower jaw in place, hit the button, and let gravity situate the top jaw. The plier action makes them like a faster wrench as well, loosening the grip is usually enough to come back and get another grip on the nut or whatever youโre turning so you can go without slowing down much if at all. I find the 180mm to be a perfect balance of size and power. The 250mm are a little heftier than Iโd like for EDC, and itโs pretty rare in my work that they provide much advantage, but they definitely have their place as well- the team works exceptionally well for taking apart fluid lines and plenty of other automotive tasks. I rarely even bother looking for my standard wrenches anymore. 10/10 Iโd replace these if lost without question.
