J.K. Lasser's Your Income Tax 2020: For Preparing Your 2019 Tax Return

As usual the Lasser's tax reference book is great. I've been using J.K Lasser for many years (since 1989). I have tried other tax book and they don't even offer all the the information you need to understand the tax laws. The shippment was fast!

For the money this is an excellent tax book for the average person. It is not a substitute for the regular tax service that we use at our CPA practice but those services cost thousands of dollars a year. Really good examples and the book is well written. Good index and easy to use.

I've been preparing income taxes professionally for 40 years and this is my all time favorite go to reference. It is written if plain English and easy to understand. Great examples and spot on in every way. Highly recommended for the novice and experienced preparer.

Good for general understanding of US tax law as well as many specifics. It would be helpful to have a section on cross-border tax as well as information on owning foreign assets in general as many US citizens own such assets.

This was a really helpful book with the information laid out as clearly as tax information can be. We marked the pages we needed and were able to loan it to a friend with different circumstances. Worked great for what we needed with quick explanations and clear information and resources if we needed additional information.

Have relied on J.K. Lasser for decades. Very authoritative. Every issue will offer an actual case that was won against the IRS on a particular case with sufficient background to ascertain if you might fall into the same category. Much more reliable information than one would get from call the IRS (which, by the way, will not hold up in an audit or court!).

The way tax laws change every year J.K. Lasser's books are a real necessity. They are much easier to understand than the IRS publications and instructions (i.e., the Qualified Business Income deduction). The CARES act has enabled people that do not file Schedule A to deduct charitable contributions. The IRS has released several publications that explain this, but they all seemed a little absurd to me. I'm looking forward to the 2021 edition of J.K. Lasser's Your Income Tax to explain it.

This book is helpful if you have kept good records and already have knowledge of tax preparation. Even with all of this I head for a CPA for final preparation. Good luck.
