Hello, the reason you smell ozone is due to the UV light. All UV lights omit trace levels of ozone. As long as the ozone feature is off you can use this in occupied spaces as hydroxyl is safe for occupied areas.

Hello, Here is your answer. 360NM, it can produce Hydroxyl, but the effect is not as good as the wavelength of 254nm

The hydroxyl is used by pressing the red button. The ozone is turned on by use of the dial and both can be used together for optimal results. Please remember that this size and type of unit produces ozone at a rate that should only be used in unoccupied spaces. Use in multi family settings should be done under containment so the ozone does not enter into other occupied units.

The unit is rated for 3000 square feet. As for how long it takes to “clean” an area depends on how bad the area is. If it’s mold/smoke that has been stewing for years it will take several days running both the hydroxyl and ozone. Remember ozone cannot be used while people/animals are in the space. The hydroxyl function does work great though.
