Excellent and intuitive
This is an amazing product that also comes with a great booklet to use in your child’s science curriculum. I love it and so does my son. The kit is intuitive and can be easily put together, and it works. Five stars.

This was a fun purchase!
I really enjoyed assembling this kit! It had exactly what I'd wanted -- gears, magnets and coil, and a working mini generator. The kit does do a good job of illustrating the principles involved, and in a manner way more engaging than what is typically used in schools!! Or in my schools, anyway. The booklet was also very interesting. Overall, I think this item would make an excellent gift for an intellectually curious recipient!! As for its compatibility with other kits, specifically electronics, that's a good question! It does mention hooking up more than one generator together, so you ought to ask, because obviously, duh, that would be awesome! Overall, a fun purchase! Definitely giftable in my opinion.

Good product but limited
This is a really neat set. The hand crank generator build and the lesson on magnets and electric engines are great. The only problem is that once you’ve done those two projects the set is basically done. The booklet is well written and has good explanations but the set is very limited in scope. Very entertaining for 10-15 minutes then kind of a bummer when you realize you’re done.

Good set to introduce gears, transmissions, magnetism and electricity generator
Got this set to get my kid to understand some basic concepts. The experiments are easy to read and follow. My kid enjoys playing and experimenting with this set.

Nice manual/lessons
Great project (s) to do with my grandson. Nice explanations and instructions. Got to see how Tesla’s motors can be turned into generators.

Good for learning but cheaply made
The parts are easily breakable. My son loved it for the couple of hours he had it before the wires easily broke. Not really worth the money spent.

Very Nice Little Kit!
This kit was a lot of fun to put together with several of my nephews and nieces. The instructions are very good and also informative. It produced enough current and voltage to drive a couple of LEDs I had laying around. It was pretty funny to see them wrap thier heads around how mechanical energy of turning a crank coupled with magnetism could generate electricity. The larger scale descriptions in the accompanying book were quite good.

Very Educational and Fun
Best and most cheapest product I could find to help me learn more about motors and generators. The generator/motor is also a handy tool to use, you can light up flashlight bulbs, charge batteries, and even do more experimenting with other electric-based components. The instruction booklet is also easy to read, but I did spend much time on it. I think anyone that enjoys electricity and learning how it works will enjoy this kit. The most fun is when you connect the motor/generator to an RC motor and watch it spin.

Very good for my kids (14 years old girl and 9 years old boy) to have practical understanding of very basics of electrical engineering. I have helped them to assemble and able to show them what is gear ratio, what is commutator brush DC Motor and what is DC generator with the kit. Also a nice feature when you remove the red and blue magnets then neither the generator generates electricity nor the motor runs. The toy is not that you build generator or motor on your own hand. Rather it is assembled rotor with 3 commutators and two terminals which can be mounted with plastic gears and permanent magnets to act as BDC motor or generator. The assembly is very easy and it takes maximum 5 minutes for me and 10 minutes for my kids.

Great kit, useful not just for 8+ but also for GCSE and IGCSE physics. I like the way you can build up the components of a motor and see why the magnets make a difference, for instance. Components feel solid and fit together well. Instruction booklet is great and streets ahead of the usual standard, with clear explanations. This kit ended up being indispensable in our KS3 science group when an alternative kit, ordered from a university science supplier, was hard to use.

I got this for my 10 year old son and we really enjoyed working with it. The parts are well made and solid. The instruction manual is very well written and gives very interesting historical background to the experiments. I'd recommend highly.
