Works Great, buying more
I've tried the elastic shoe lace systems and I can't get them tight enough to keep my heel from slipping or they are so tight that I can't put them on.Now that I've found the KnotBone I've got the perfect solution. They are simple and they work great. When I don't feel like tying my shoes I just slip them on and I'm out the door, if i want them tied I just cinch up wrap and lock.As far as the lace ends go they do need to be closed with pliers, needle nose work the best but regular pliers work just fine. Remember they lace ends are made of plastic so you just don't mash the pliers closed as hard as you can, use the tips of the pliers to gently squeeze the tab closed. You just need to generate just enough pressure to get the locking mechanism to engage.Overall another great product from Nite Ize

Very good for some types of shoes, but toss the lace caps
I have used the Nite Ize KnotBone LaceLock device for years with good results on my athletic type shoes. I move the KnotBone to new shoes after retiring the old ones.My shoes stay tied which is the primary reason for using the device. Another thing I like is that if I am going a short distance - like to the mailbox - I can just slip the shoes on without tying them and the laces don’t drag on the ground. I have not seen any fraying of the laces related to using the device as reported in some reviews.HOWEVER (after having problems with the lace caps as mentioned in other reviews) I recommend using the KnotBone device without installing the lace caps. Just pull the laces through the KnotBone device and tie them with a 'figure of 8' knot at the end without cutting the lace tips off. Tuck the tied lace end under the 1st lace row and if necessary back up under a higher row to keep the end from flopping around. See pictures. If after using the device a while you decide you don’t like it you can untie the knot and remove the device. If you like the device on a particular pair of shoes, but the lace is too long, you can shorten it then.

I should have saved my money
I get tired of having to tie my laces on my work boots to just the right tightness because they never stay that tight. I figured I'd try these. While they weren't useless, I just didn't need them afterall. Within days of putting them on my boots, the lace end keeper pulled right off the end, causing the teeth of them to fray (even worse than the required cutting of the laces). So then I had to cut them even shorter in order to put it back on. Great concept, but just not worth it. I think next time I'll just try a different lacing technique to get a tight hold of my laces.

Doesn't work well
Pros:1. Can tie shoes fast.Cons:1. Your shoes aren't "tied" as tight (vs by hand).2. You have to cut your shoelaces for this to work (then they are frayed at the ends & get more & more frayed).Would I buy this again? No.

Not worth the struggle.
Flawed design and will not work with basic round boot laces. An all around struggle to install and use for their intended purpose. As Snuglocs are no longer available, I thought I'd give them a try. Nope.

HERES THE UNOFFICIAL USER INSTRUCTIONS
any shoe laces from curly, thick, flat, dress, boot, ANY laces....put the shoe on and lace it but dont actually tie the laces, then gently pull them together to about the toe of shoe, cut them cleanly at about the toe length, with a candle/lighter melt the ends like you would with synthetic rope, pass both lace ends through the fat flat end and out the middle side of one the lacelox pieces, open the other lacelox piece and put the lace ends(together side-by-side)fully into the smaller part(has spikes in it), (obviously if the laces are way too thick to fit then cut or burn them a bit and if they are way too thin double them in there), carefully close that piece thereby clamping the ends in, you can squeeze the thinner sides of that closed piece while holding the wider sides closed, important is to have some gorilla tape(hardcore duct tape) just a little strip that goes around the closed piece once-it matches the color and never lets it open unless you remove tape, i advise pulling on the laces more than that end piece but havent had a problem even getting the end pulled by catching it on something occasionally when untied. nite-ize makes some delicate stuff and some tough stuff but its all good stuff, with my advice these lacelox have no equal and 1 pair outlasts your shoes in all probability.

read fist if you are buying for anything taller than athletic shoes
excellent if you are like me and hate tying shoes. although, its not perfect. its hard for me to get a grip on the larger piece while wrapping the laces. don't follow the directions if you are using these on boots. they instruct you to tighten everything up and then measure and cut the laces. this left me without enough slack to loosen my boots so that i could get my foot in and out of them. so on the second pair of laces i measured and cut them from a point where they were loosened. now i can put them on and off but when secured i have too much slack and they can't tuck like the pictures show. tucking the end piece around my ankle is uncomfortable. the end piece is more for a finished look and i may just take them off so that i can tuck the ends of the bare laces around my ankle like i do when tying them.

Keeps my boots and shoes tied when I'm hiking or racing!
These are pretty cool. Make for quick in and out. Especially for my boots which have the lacing hooks. Keeps them from coming untied. When doing boots, I recommend that you lace the hooks before putting it together to make sure that it does not get installed upside down. For my running shoes, I had to make it a little longer than they suggested as I needed more lace to get in and out of them.
