Does this product works in the tank of water with the turtle in it and does it float or do you put it off to the side for access

I have a small land tortoise so put it off to side for access

Does it work on lizards? How often do I need to clean the water bottle?

Works fine for lizards. Base is separated so you can use the other half for food like fruits and vegetables. I rinse the bottle well before refilling every time, but that's just me.
