Velox Electric Electric Espresso Maker

This product makes a single ~ 3 Oz. Moka espresso. Quality of the moka coffee it produced is comparable to my stovetop Bialetti unit.For those who enjoys espresso, this is a good solution when you are away from your beloved Kitchen; specially if you often found yourself not satisfied with local gourmet coffee house while on travel and believe Starbucks espresso are unacceptable or undrinkable.This unit comprises mostly metal construction. Coffee is made the same way as stovetop moka pot; near boiling water passing through espresso grind from bottom up with pressure generated from boiling water itself. Resulting moka coffee is near identical as what i made from my stovetop Bialetti pot; not exactly a substitute for Silvia but when I am on the road, or mid-day in my cubicle, it satisfies my coffee cravings. And, yes, much like stovetop moka pot, this unit does get HOT but it should not be a surprise.Please reseach this product before you make the purchase. This is a near pocket size product meant to make ONE 3oz moka espresso cup for one person while on travel. It serves that purpose rather well. IMHO, previous reviewer misunderstood this product's design intends.

I bought this to use when travelling. I will use it, but it is not really satisfactory for my needs. On the plus side, it makes a good espresso, and it is certainly small enough to be portable.. On the negative side, your only option is to make two demitasse cups of espresso. You can't just put one cup under it and get two shots in a cup. Well, one could, but not in a practical way. You could set the brewer on top of someting, but if travelling, you won't always have something at hand.... So now will I be packing two demitasse cups? Pain in the ankle. Also, the body of the brewer gets hot as a branding iron, so you can't brew another dose right away. If all you want is two single shots of espresso, this may be just the thing for you. For me, this item is doesn't really fill the bill, and I will continue looking. I threw money at a target and missed.

We bought this as a start up espresso service at our church to see how many people would be willing to pay for it to raise money. The product did not have any other photos besides of the outside and when it came in the mail, we realized it has too many small parts that would need to be cleaned every time you make a shot. The coffee maker is REALLY tiny and for an average drink, you would have to use the whole shot. The parts inside get really hot after running the shot and are obviously wet and really hard to get out and clean right away, which is not practical in a hectic coffee shop. So we ended up wasting $100. It would be good for an occasional drink or affogato, but that is it.

My new Velox replaced one I had for many years that finally gave out (got it in 1978). This maker does just what it says it will do, and the way I use it, I get about half an old-fashioned teacup of espresso. The two spouts fit easily inside the cup. Add a bit of sugar, squeeze a lemon peel and drop it in--heavenly. My only quibble is the rather poor quality of the milling, and the marring (or unfinished appearance) of some plastic surfaces. That said, all working parts are well engineered and the coffee that hisses out of the spout tastes wonderful. HOWEVER: Be aware that the photo that accompanies the maker fudges quite a bit: the little Velox will not fill two demis as shown.

I got one of this. But mine was volt free,it can use 80V~240V.I`m living in Japan. Yes 100V...It takes too long time. I couldn`t wait.So I remake it . I removed original heater which is world wide.And reinstalled new heater for 100V, then it woks very well.I didn`t know this 110V ver.

We have been using these velox coffee makers for over 20 years in different sizes and they are the best espresso coffee makers there are. Nobody carries the larger sizes no more and ours are getting old and we would like to get new ones. We have 5 of them. 2, 4, 6 ,8. We would not make espresso at home any other way.We even contacted the company in Italy (no English)and they told us they will ship them to us but the charges will be to high. Could Amazon try to sell them here? I know a lot of people that would love to have one. We use one at work for 10 cups and it serves to about 20 people.

We have been using our Velox coffeemaker for almost 25 years and it just died. It has traveled all over the world and the US as our faithful companion. We are ordering another one. Cant live without it! Hilda & Hector Gasca
