Came with batteries and after installing the scale fire right up. Display is bright and easy to read. Messed with a few of the functions and seemed to work. Had repeatable results with a piece of paper and added a second which seemed good even at that small of a weight.I didn't try it with a lot of things, but seemed like a nice cheep accurate scale.Downside is that it's really thin plastic for the body. the battery cover and rest of the plastic chassis feels like it could break if you look at it wrong. Very thin plastic. It has seven different units of measurement, as well as a counting function. The TARE feature allows for zeroing out the scale whenever you need to do so. It's really easy to use and does everything I want it to do and then some. So far, I've used this scale for cooking/baking, weighing coffee beans while making coffee, and weighing out my dog's food, as she's on a specific caloric intake diet. This cake makes all of that so easy to do. I've mainly used the "grams" unit of measurement, but I'm sure the others will come in handy down the line. It comes with batteries, so I was using it within 30 seconds of opening the box.
