It will cut!
I wanted a large slicing knife to slice BBQ beef brisket. The knife is beautiful to look at, thanks to the Damascus steel and crazy sharp. It’s a long blade which adds a bit of weight but great for keeping the knife perfectly lined up for cutting slices. Yes it may be a bit big for your average roast, Dalstrong do make a smaller version. For me this is perfect for what I wanted it for

Thin, sharp and sliced beautifully.
Knife perfect for purpose purchased which is for carving large cuts of brisket. Sharp out of the box. Not as aesthetically pleasing as the advertising, but definitely does the job it was purchased to do 😀

Outstanding Quality! Must have if you're cutting your own steaks from whole strips!
I am truly blown away with the quality and craftsmanship of this blade. The attention to detail is absurd!This 14" slicer is perfectly straight, very sharp, and cuts through my prime rib roasts and whole strip loins with single passes. No need to make two incisions at each end and then a third to connect the two as I would with my 8" chef knife.Compared to a $670+tax Miyabi 5000MCD 67 Black 8" chef knife (mind you, different tools for different jobs) these $100-$140 Shogun series blades definitely displays its value.I am now a true believer of Dalstrong's Shogun series and will likely pick up their 8" Chef knife as my daily next.

It’s worth it!
My first DALSTRONG.Was thinking about a slicing/carving knife and came across this one… spendy, I thought… Shogun Series…? Did some digging and watched reviews. I’ve always loved being in the kitchen and recently made a beef roast I wanted sliced thinly for sandwiches, my regular chef’s knife was coming up short in all ways concerned (pun intended)! You need to know, that if you are looking at this knife, and wondering like I was, “is it worth it?” I’m here to tell you it is.The 14 inches is not ‘too’ long for slicing meat, or carving. In my opinion 12 inches would be a compromise. The decision is yours my kitchen/culinary friend. If you are here reading the reviews, you need this knife.It’s absolutely worth it, you are worth it! It will be your DALSTRONG Shogun Series slicing/carving knife for the rest of your life… enjoy cooking, amazing.Packaging, presentation and craftsmanship are amazing. Double boxes surround your knife inside it is sheathed in it’s own protective durable sheath, and cradled in protective dense foam, form fitted just right.
