Photographer's Market 2014: How to Sell Your Photography and Make a Living

I've just completed my first pass through the book, and intend to go through it again and again to soak up all the valuable information I've found during my first pass. I am a landscape photographer who wishes to sell copies of my photos. Ms. Bostic offers a great deal of information regarding this market, and how to approach it. I recommend it highly for any photographer who is serious about building a business around his/her talent.

Of course, it's impossible to cover every possible market in one book. Several publications I'm interested in are not included, BUT they also offer an online update service which I have not had time to check out yet. Their tips on marketing are good.

The Photographer's Market is the serious "photographer's bible" with an excellent source of information for anyone wanting to sell photos. Not only does it contain much-needed information for professional photographers but it is helpful for beginning photographers as well.

I've used Photographer's Market in print versions in the past, and this time decided to try the Kindle version, assuming it would be searchable by keyword or topic. It's not. You have to browse. Not leveraging this capability of digital formats, this is a major limitation, almost a deal-breaker.

Bought this for my Photographer Partner and can say there is a lot of detail in the book. A lot to read, but very valuable information on the Market and exactly how to submit stuff.

I have used the Writer's Market, the Artist's Market, and now, the Photographer's Market books in the past and present. There are lots of good tips in the book for people who are just starting out. I've been freelancing since the 1980s, so, I am not new at this, but, there is always something new to learn. These books are great time-savers. They give you the information you'll need to get your foot in the door. You want to pay close attention to what each agent, publisher, or other representative wants. Follow those guidelines to the letter and you CAN get results. Don't shotgun submissions to publishers or publications. Pick your potentials from the fields that various publishers say they accept. You want to use these books to identify those publishers that work within your niche. If you don't have a niche, trust me, you need one. Figure out what your particular area of interest is and specialize in that until you are just too good to ignore. Then, follow that niche to the publishers that would give you an opportunity. By the way, don't get discouraged. I am an award-winning photographer and I still have to go through this same process. That's the way the game is played. Good Luck.

This book is a great reference for finding places to submit your photographs to sell. I was surprised to see how many listing were in this book. I have never seen this many listings in a single place before. Definitely worth the money, you should be able to get your money back on your first submission.

This is the first year I have purchased this book but will continue to do so every year. I am an amateur photographer but hoping to better my skills and become a professional. I feel this publication will get me in the door somewhere to kick start.

Got this for my niece who is in school for photography and she loved it. She can hardly wait to finish school and use it as a resource for employment.

There is some good information included within the pages but finding relevant and high level information can be challenging. It could use more information on advertising agencies.
