Good Buy
My mom really loved this, she's been trying out stuff whenever she can! She's excited to try new designs, and then eat them. (As are the rest of my family).

A dream come true
My daughter who is a chef searched high and low for this book. I found it on Amazon and surprised her with it for Christmas. She was flabbergasted. Since han she has displayed outstanding work in her job with creations from the book. An indescribable investment. Worth it.

OUTSTANDING ILLUSTRATIONS, BUT FEW INSTRUCTIONS
Great pictures and some directions, but these were out of my league of ability. Fun to look at. Would like a more illustrated how-to book.

Great book with easy to follow pictures for the food carving enthusiast
I used to do some beginner carvings as a hobbie ages ago, and wanted to pick this back up again. The book starts with a helpful guide to some of the tools used throughout. I started with a paring knife, and am planning on getting an angled knife (the one shaped like a V) to do most of the designs I like. A lot of the designs can be completed using the paring knife and some patience! In terms of instructions, they are pretty clear. Most of the steps have pictures that go with them, I have seen some other books that aren't as detailed, or they leave you kind of wondering how they got from step 3 to step 4. I haven't tried some of the more complex ones for buffets, as there are complete "scenes" that you can create towards the end of the book (like a Waterbuffalo dozing between chive reeds and radish flowers). All in all I'm quite happy with this book. Lovely pictures, and easy to follow instructions. Will post some picture/comparisons when I remember it!
