You have to turn the gold pins towards you when you connect it. I believe the negative reviews didn't connect it properly as it appears it goes the other way. Works great thus far.

EDIT: OVERALL, I AM VERY HAPPY WITH THIS PURCHASE, and especially with the Customer Service. When I notified the company of the problem, they immediately sent me a new battery to replace the defective one. No arguments, no questions, no issues, no problems. Just "We'll replace it for you!" I received it within a few days, and installed the new battery. It works just fine, with no issues or problems. Customer Service like this is a rare thing! I wasn't happy. I installed the battery carefully, following all instructions to the letter. And it worked... for a while! I plugged in the laptop, and there were no issues. I unplugged it, and the laptop worked just fine. The battery was charged to about 70%, so I turned off the laptop and unplugged the power cord. In the morning, the laptop wouldn't turn on. I plugged it in, and it still wouldn't turn on. I tried everything, but simply couldn't get any power. So suspecting the battery, I unplugged it, and removed the battery, carefully and meticulously reversing the installation steps. I then plugged the laptop in, and it started right up! I powered the laptop down, re-installed the battery, and tried to power it up, but it refused to start. I plugged the laptop into the power cord, and it still wouldn't start up. So, unplugging the power cord, I carefully unplugged the battery itself from the circuit board. And when I plugged the power back in, it started right up, no problem. Clearly, the issue is with the battery. I had to leave town the next morning for Europe, and was gone for six weeks. I have contacted the company, and am awaiting a response. For now, though, I'm not very happy.

I bought this on recommendation from the Geek Squad at Best Buy for my HP Laptop. When I brought it down to Best Buy they installed it and it didn't work. Best Buy didn't carry a replacement battery. I had just gone over the 30 day return policy for Amazon as I had to go out of town. A total waste of time and money. So disappointed. Buyer beware. This is my first bad purchase on Amazon.

I just replaced my battery myself in my old HP Spectre x360 15-df0000. This new one works perfectly and thank you for including the screw drivers for the tiny screws on the side of the back cover. It fit perfectly, just like the original. Note: when replacing, make note or take a picture of the connector to the board you are undoing when you remove the old battery. On this new one, the way the connector lies naturally is actually upside down and you need to flip it over, so make note of the orientation of the colors in the original connector you are undoing. There is also a youtube video from HP about how to get everything apart which is essential to watch. Also note: you probably don't have to undo the speaker connectors (they are so tiny!), you can just move the wires out of the channels alongside the battery when removing the old one.

This is the second time I bought this battery for 1 of 3 of the same laptops I have in the family. I would gladly rate it 5 stars if the manufacturer would simply design it so the cable lies 180 degrees different than it does now. I did this the first time and forgot and wasted an hour trying to figure it out. I came back and read reviews which reminded me. The cable sits 180 degrees opposite as to how it's supposed to be plugged into the laptops motherboard. You need to turn the cable 180 degrees and plug it in. It seems like you're doing it wrong. Otherwise, the battery works but Windows and HP think there is no battery and it may not even charge. I also confirmed this by looking at the OEM battery...wire is sitting in the correct position with it. As a side note, I did have to unplug the battery then hold in the power button for 15 seconds to get the second one to work. Once I did that, plugged the battery back in and the laptop turned on. I had to hit "enter" as mentioned in the BIOS upon first boot. After that, everything is working great. Long story short: turn the connector 180 degrees from how it looks like it's supposed to plug in. This is likely almost everyone's issue. That and you may have to do the thing I mentioned above regarding unplugging the battery and holding in the power button.

Pay attention to the battery connector. Even though the battery would connect as it arrived, I had to turn the battery connector 180 degrees. Once connected property, the battery would charge and report the battery percentage level to the laptop.

I expected that this battery replacement would extend the life of my very useful HP 365 Spectre laptop, bought sometime in 2019 (about 4 years ago). The battery did that. What I didn't expect was that a battery replacement kit would come with the tools needed to do the replacement. I watched a Youtube video on how to do this job, used the tools, and got the results I had hoped for. Great job manufacturer! You did your homework and sympathized with the people who you expect would do their own battery upgrades. The included screw drivers were perfectly matched to the screws for this laptop. Thanks.

I bought one of these and while it worked it did not report the battery state. The HP diagnostics said that it could not detect the battery so I returned it and got another battery. It did the same thing so I presumed that there was an issue with the charging system of the computer and ordered a new motherboard ($400). The new board had the same issue of not detecting the battery! On getting an HP genuine battery the diagnostics worked flawlessly and the battery was detected. Long story short, these batteries are complete garbage and totally unusable for their intended purpose. DO NOT BUY. ZERO STARS.
