The photo shows it set for 1/2" copper tubing so I don't know if they changed it or if it can be used either way. I think it can but I would contact Mueller to be sure. **Q: Could cross connection happen with this valve?** A: Not sure what you mean by "cross connection". This type of valve simply connects your cold water and hot water pipes together before it supplies your toilet tank. You can adjust the temperature to stop condensation on your toilet. The water in the tank does not need to be too warm. Adjust it as cool as it can be to stop the condensation and save on your hot water bill. These valves work great. **Q: how do you hook up to 1/2" copper pipes?** A: You can use the compression fittings provided with the valve or you can install 1/2 "copper female adapters to the valve and solder the pipe to them. **Q: does the big screw on both hot and cold sides increase or decrease total flow?** A: I'm no expert but the total flow is going to be determined by the outlet side. Unless you turn both screws way down, it should only adjust the hot to cold water ratio. This is a well made thought out valve. The check valves that are built in stop the back feeding from the hot pipe to the cold pipe and vice versa . Easy to adjust the proper amount of hot to be added with the turn of a screw.With a few dollars of CPVC fitting and pipe it was a easy install. I have a ventless heater so my humidity is high all year around so this is a must have . It's been installed one month now and is working great. NPT threads are great. Makes it easy to go to Pex. Simply get 3 half inch pipe thread to Pex fittings and you are set. Two plumbers and the hardware store guy all said this would not work but it did! This is pipe thread regardless of what anyone else tells you. I did not adjust the mix valve as water in my tank comes in around 65 degrees which prevents sweating even after a steamy hot shower.
