TLDR: I’ve run this slim PU-leather folio on my 15.6″ Asus Q538EI Flip 15 every day since March 2022. It still keeps the top and bottom scratch-free and vanishes in your bag—but one corner strap finally tore in March 2025, the little front flap is a constant PITA, and it offers zero side-impact or drop protection (mine mangled the charge port and shorted the board). That said, for $24.60, I got my money’s worth. Full Review: I grabbed this Alapmk folio back in March 2022 to protect my Flip 15 without adding bulk. Three years later, the exterior still looks solid—no peeling, cracking, or stains—and the soft, cashmere-style lining has spared my laptop’s shell from any scuffs (although the stitches have worn out over time). At under a pound and less than an inch thick, I barely notice it in my backpack. The elastic corner bands grip the chassis like a vice, which is great…until one finally snapped in two this past March when I slipped during installation. I’ve always been careful, so I expected a bit more longevity out of those straps. And then there’s that tiny front flap you tuck under to keep the cover closed—listing never made a big deal of it, but it’s now my least-favorite ritual every time I power on. On the plus side, the hidden “fan gap” underneath keeps the side and bottom vents completely unobstructed. I’ve never seen extra heat or heard my fans ramp up, even when I prop the laptop in stand mode. That promise holds true. Unfortunately I learned its limitations after I dropped my laptop on its charger side while it was plugged in, and this folio did nothing to save the port or motherboard. I know it never claimed to be a crash pad, but I learned the hard way that it protects only against everyday scratches (that too, only on the top and bottom)—nothing more. Overall, considering it lasted three solid years of daily use, I really can’t complain. I wouldn’t call it a premium product, but it pulled its weight and was decent value for money. Why 3.5★ (rounded up to 4): 1★: Scratch Protection – Top and bottom chassis look flawless after three years. 1★: Ventilation – No heat or noise penalty, just like advertised. 1★: Low-Profile Carry – Feather-light and slim keeps it out of your way. ½★: Material Quality & Durability – PU leather looks decent enough but the stitches in the linings do wear out over time. The rigidity of the straps also makes installation a bit trickier, and can easily cause them to rip as it did for me. 0★: Drop & Dust Protection – Zero side-impact or drop protection for the bottom chassis. This also means dust will enter your ports without issue (if that is something that concerns you). Depending on your screen size, you may or may not have inadvertent protection for the screen chassis from bumps to the side (but again, not drops). Takeaway: If you need a low-key sleeve that guards your device against typical day-to-day use, scratches, and keeps it cool, this folio delivers. Just don’t expect it to survive drops, shield your ports, or last forever.
