An Awesome Product at an Awesome Price
If I had to limit myself to one thing for camping, it would be this sleeping bag cover. You could, if you had to, get by with it and warm clothes to sleep at night. It is Gore Tex, which allows water vapor to pass through so condensation does not soak you, and it prevents rain from coming in because the pores are smaller than water molecules. The government had to have spent a lot more to make this than what you are paying surplus to buy this. (New camping breathable bivies of lighter construction cost $150.00) So if you are a true minimalist you can take a day pack, warm clothes, insect repellent (there is no bug screening), water and granolla bars and you are set to go into the woods for the weekend. (Note: That is an expert mode only of camping, not for beginners, and some national parks might not even allow going that light!) If you like things more comfortable, this is still wonderful in a tent where you can use it to keep from breathing cold air at night by closing the head cover (the same concept as pulling the covers over you head). It has the world's absolute best zipper. This is so if you are sleeping with your weapon on your chest you can quickly come up shooting. While I don't have to come up shooting, it is still a great feature to have such a easy zipper to use when you are shutting down for the night or getting up half-asleep. It also lets you leave your sleeping bag unzipped under it when the weather is warmer. This is a great addition to keep in your car with your emergency kit in case you get stuck out over night, or just want to pull out on a side road and stretch out and nap if you need it (the camo will make you almost invisible in the bushes). The folks selling it are really good to work with. I was a grouchy old man when the post office messed up the delivery and they worked to resolve things immediately.

Legit as it gets...
Shipping was fast and the product arrived in a vacuum sealed bag. No smell or signs of use or wear. This really is the perfect portable shelter. No tent poles to setup, and the bag fit easily into a medium sized compression sack. On a recent trip in Northern California, I spent 3 nights in this bivy. The first night consisting of some pretty wet weather. I stayed completely dry and the interior is surprisingly roomy (had a sleeping pad and 35 degree bag inside with plenty of room to spare). My backpacking buddy on the trip was a Marine with 3 tours under his belt and said these are identical to what they were issued (albiet these smelled much better and lacked any of the questionable stains). Pros: 1.) Everything about the bag is high quality- from the fabric (GoreTex), to the snaps and zippers. This is one of those pieces of equipment you don't need to worry about. 2.) Waterproof- even if you're not in rainy weather, morning condensation can be an unpleasant way to start your day. This bag kept everything inside it perfectly dry. 3.) Plenty of room- I'm 6ft and 190lbs and was a bit worried I'd feel claustraphobic. Not the case. The bag is obviously meant to be part of a tiered sleeping system, that includes a few other bags, but even then, I'm guessing you'll have plenty of room inside. And with the bag on your face, it still managed to be breathable, yet it kept all the moisture and most of the condensation out. Cons: 1.) Slightly heavier and larger than other bivy sacks out there. But you're getting a military issue piece of equipment, so the extra ounces seem worth it, considering the heavy duty build quality. This is definitely one of the better outdoor purchases I've made in quite a while. My guess is, you won't go back to sleeping in a tent anytime soon.

Excellent field gear.
The item arrived in the estimated shipping time with no issues and packaged well to avoid damage in transit. The sleeping bag cover was in perfect condition with no holes, tears, stains, or other signs of damage. The colors were still dark and the zipper and Velcro worked flawlessly. The snaps mated easily with my issue patrol bag to form a very useful sleeping system. The issue G.I. sleeping pad will not fit inside the cover due to the cover's tapered mummy shape, but it will hold the complete sleeping system and keep the occupant protected from the wind and rain. For the price paid this is an excellent investment, and with any care will likely give the owner a lifetime of service. For anyone looking to get a compact, lightweight, and weatherproof shelter, this is a highly recommended item.

Perfect for intended use
I originally wanted this bivy to replace my Gunnison 2.1 when I pack alone and go minimalist but didn't want to spend $200+ on a really nice bivy. I also wanted to add a few degrees to my sleep system and have the ability to stomach sleep and spread out without exposing myself to the cold. I have yet to pack with it but it has gone car camping and worked very well, adding a few degrees and keeping my little sleep bubble cozy and toasty. I skipped the entire sleep system as I remember it to be huge and heavy with all the layers. They were comfy or maybe we were dead tired as we often crawled in with boots and everything else on. Regardless, my BA bag is awesome and I wouldn't trade it for anything. IMHO this is the best of the sleep system and the best bivy ever made! Yep, it is heavy, it has no extras like netting, poles to tent around the face and it is not pretty.....however, it is solid and virtually indestructible, it fits big guys with big BA pads and bags and it holds up to the elements, oh and it is 5x less (and worth 5x more)than others.

Fantastic. As good if not better than very expensive systems
I got this to use in October on a 3 day bicycle trip in Missouri. Instead of tents we all (3 of us) got these instead by the recommendation of my brother who had used this in downpours while working in Minisota at an at risk youth 30 day canoe trip on the Great Lakes for a few summers a few years ago. His testimony was that this bivy is on par with or better than very expensive systems and often he would be the only dry person come morning. I have a 17 degree bag and with this bivy slept comfortably in 10 degree weather even with a good wind. I was able to put my air mat in the bivy with me and the system worked like a charm. Mine has a very small hole in the top that I will repair with a gortex patch kit and didn't give me any problems at all (no rain). I got mine used in very good condition and don't even know if thy where aware of the hole and like I said, not too worried about it. Fantastic item for a great price. (My cousin got the same NICU with the whole sleep system so 2 bags to layer and the shell). All happy customers!

Great Price, Great Bag
This bag is a wonder for the price. The goretex feature alone would usually put this past my budget. The bag, or bag cover, or bivy, however you want to think about it, has several nice features in actual use: - low crinkle sound. Not sure if you've tried to sleep in some other bivies, but some are unbearably crinkly when you use them alone. This one is cloth-like enough to keep the noise down. - high moisture travel. The surprising amount of water vapor you produce at night will chill you or sticky you more than you realize and this bag cover allows the vapor out, so you don't end up getting out of a soggy baggy in the morning. - reasonable camo. I'm not a big camo fan, but this camo is not too tacky. - size. My long Marmot bag fits quite well. - solid. The zippers are hefty with snaps over them, so you won't get unzipped unknowingly. cons? hm. a little bug netting over the top might have been nice.

As advertised
Highly recommended. Product received in condition advertised. Description stated that it may have small patch. Product was patched professionally. Very good condition and completely servicable. I have used this in the rain when there was a big puddle in my tent and their were no leaks (now have new tent). In low tempuratures this condition would have been dangerous if the sleeping bag had gotten wet. I am out camping at least twice a month. The cover keeps your sleeping gear dry. Definately one of the best pieces of camping gear you can own. This cover can compensate for problems that come up. Leaky tents, gear touching sidewalls, thunderstorms with high winds, rain while setting up. Bottom line is that this gear will keep your sleeping bag dry. I have had many occassions where scouts get their gear wet. 2 o'clock in the morning is the wrong time to find out that a scout is in wet gear from a rain storm. When the tempuratures start dropping a wet sleeping bag can ruin your experience and become dangerous. Scouts have borrowed extra bivy sacks and placed a blancket in them and stayed dry and warm all night. This cover breathes, but also provides some warmth.

Just Buy One, Your Going To Love It
I ordered a "used like new" bag from one of the sellers on amazon and cannot find a single defect anywhere, if they had put the bag into manufacturers original packing it would be hard to tell it is not new. Due to reading several reviews I was hesitant to buy this cover due to people saying it is bulky and heavy even though they have rated its performance as excellent. After receiving this item I am super happy with it. I was able to place my cheap 2lb coleman sleeping bag inside and after folding it length ways and rolling it from the end like packing any sleeping bag, both pieces together easily fit back into the original storage bag that came with the coleman. I haven't had a chance to take it camping yet but if this bag performs half as well as it feels and looks it should last me a lifetime and keep me warm and dry too. would recommend to anyone who enjoys camping, hunting and fishing and likes to stay comfortable doing it without the added weight and bulk of a tent.

great zippers. Cons
Pros: large, tough, waterproof yet breathable, great zippers. Cons: doesn’t have bug mesh and needs tweaking to stay off my face. Great deal for bug free sites. 2.6 lbs. My shipment was 12 days past the latest posted delivery date (took about six weeks).

keeps dry and breathes well
packs bulky but does what it is meant to do. used it in -35c with a snugpak softie 5 and polypro long johns for a week and it held up well even in the wind. I didn't get any moisture build up (kept my face to the open zipper.
