Does the job!
Puts in the work! Knocked out my driveway no problem. Unsure about longevity but it’s great for a homeowner. Easy to assemble. Easy to use. Adjustment is nice along with the guide plate.

Great tool, well worth the money!
I'm thrilled and pleased with the Worx edger. I bought it because it's electric, cheaper than other styles and I don't have to fool with a 2 stroke engine. I bought Worx, because it has a good guide to help me keep the blade away from the sidewalk, as well as a white mark on the housing to give a general idea of where the blade was. Also I thought it seemed to have a good engine. Now I'm sure it has a good engine. I looked at 3 other comparable trimmers, and because of the guide and engine, chose Worx. I read the 1 star reviews, many of the 5 star reviews and in between, as well as all the specifications I could. One of the competitors was attractive to me, but the 1 stars indicated there was a small tendency for the engine to quit. There were many less reviews for most of the models and many for that one, but I chose this one for the same amperage of engine, but less HP, which might, in my mind, over-work the engine which would account for it being ruined. One had a better warranty, but Amazon offered 2 more years for about $750, so I upgraded the warranty to 4 years,I have Tall Fescue grass in sandy loam soil in SE Wyo because of drought resistance, and it's a Northern grass). The grass is taller and tough as well as more in clumps. The ground probably is much easier to work than clay. The edger handled the tall grass ok, with all the clippings which had accumulated. I It was a long hard job to do the first trimming, and I was impressed with the 'Worx. I tried not to work it harder than necessary but it took more than 5 or 6 hours of work. I used the blade down almost to the long hole marker and had parts of 2 teeth left. It worked well; didn't clog; had power. Didn't ruin the engine. Didn't work me hard! I had to tighten the blade after about 10 feet, but only that once. In one area I had to run it on the wrong side, with the wheels on the grass. It worked ok, but worked much better where it was possible to put the wheels on the cement, and thus use the guide! It would be nice to be able to move the handle and the guide to the other side instead of the way I did it. The cord holder worked poorly for a 3 wire 12 gauge extension cord, but worked fine when I got out the smaller 14 g. The metal trimmer guide that helps hold the blade away from the side walk pulls up for use of the edger as a trencher. My lawn looks terrific. The blades were MUCH more expensive than the B & D; so before I bought Worx, I searched the internet and found an electric company which had a 3 pack of original equipment blades for it for $28, and on sale for $22. I scored on the tool, and on the blades! PTL!!

A Powerful and Versatile Lawn Edger & Trencher
I recently purchased the WORX WG896 12 Amp 7.5" Electric Lawn Edger & Trencher to tackle the task of maintaining my lawn's edges and creating neat trenches. Having used it extensively over the past few months, I must say that this machine offers great power and versatility. In this detailed review, I'll provide an honest and unbiased account of my experience, covering key points and offering helpful tips for potential buyers. Design and Build Quality: The WG896 boasts a well-thought-out design that is both ergonomic and sturdy. The handle is comfortable to grip, allowing for extended periods of use without causing strain. The construction of the edger is robust, ensuring durability even when encountering tough soil or roots. It feels like a high-quality product that will last for years to come. Powerful Performance: Equipped with a 12 Amp motor, this edger packs a punch. It effortlessly cuts through grass, overgrown weeds, and even stubborn roots, leaving clean and precise edges. The blade's 7.5-inch diameter is ideal for maintaining straight lines and crisp borders. I was impressed by its ability to handle various terrains, including sloped areas, without losing power or creating uneven edges. It's worth noting that the trenching function is equally impressive, allowing me to create defined trenches for irrigation or landscape projects. Ease of Use: One of the standout features of the WG896 is its user-friendly design. Assembly was a breeze, requiring minimal effort and no additional tools. The adjustable handle height caters to users of different heights, ensuring a comfortable operating position. The edger's lightweight nature makes it easy to maneuver around tight corners and along uneven terrain. Furthermore, the blade depth adjustment mechanism is straightforward and enables precise control over the cutting depth. Versatility: The WORX WG896 truly shines when it comes to its versatility. It serves as both a lawn edger and a trencher, eliminating the need for separate tools. The quick-release lever allows for seamless conversion between the two functions, saving time and effort. Whether you need to create well-defined edges along your driveway or dig trenches for cables or landscape lighting, this tool has you covered. The ability to tackle multiple tasks with a single device makes it an excellent investment for homeowners. Safety Features: WORX has taken safety seriously with the WG896. The built-in blade guard provides reliable protection, preventing accidental contact with the sharp blade. Additionally, the unit incorporates a two-hand operation system, ensuring that both hands are engaged during operation for added safety. These features offer peace of mind while working with this powerful tool. Maintenance and Durability: Maintaining the WG896 is hassle-free. The blade can be easily removed for cleaning and sharpening, ensuring consistent performance over time. The overall build quality instills confidence in the tool's durability. However, it is worth mentioning that regular cleaning and lubrication are essential to prevent clogging and ensure smooth operation. Noise and Vibration: One drawback I noticed with the WG896 is its noise level. As with most electric-powered tools, it produces a fair amount of noise during operation. Although not excessive, it may be a consideration for those who have noise restrictions in their area. Additionally, some minor vibrations can be felt while using the tool, but they are not significant enough to cause discomfort or impact performance. Price and Value for Money: Considering the performance and versatility offered by the WG896, it provides excellent value for the price. While it may be slightly higher priced than some competitors, its durability and reliability make it a worthwhile investment. With this tool, you get the benefits of both a high-quality lawn edger and a trencher, saving money and storage space in the long run. Conclusion: In conclusion, the WORX WG896 12 Amp 7.5" Electric Lawn Edger & Trencher has proven to be a powerful and versatile tool that exceeded my expectations. Its sturdy construction, powerful performance, ease of use, and dual functionality make it an excellent choice for homeowners looking to achieve clean and professional-looking lawn edges and trenches. With minor considerations regarding noise and vibration, the WG896 is a reliable companion for maintaining a well-groomed lawn. I highly recommend this product to anyone seeking a reliable and efficient lawn edger and trencher.

Great product for the $$$$
This edger is awesome. Easy to put together. Intuitive. I put it together inside of 10 minutes. Shifted the edger "guide" down, and went to work. This corded electric model is WAYYY cheaper than the battery powered (or gas powered) models, and is absolutely up to the task. Lightweight and maneuverable. Quiet. Easy to store. The motor got a little "bound" when I tried to edge too fast, but the manual had clearly warned me on this - to back up, let the blade get back up to speed, and then edge again. The lawn edges are now straight, well-defined, and immaculate.

Pretty decent.
Works much better than battery powered edger we tried and returned. Does get clogged up in clay soil but was able to edge the sidewalk area.

Shield design flaw.
Not a bad little unit for under $100. Minimal and easy, tool free assembly. Sturdy handles and rigid shaft for confident control. It’s way easier to use than a gas-powered unit; light enough to use on the gutter plate (curb) by balancing it on the front and blade-side rear wheels (not recommended). It cut/smoked through a couple of good-sized old roots that had started to lift the sidewalk. I just went slow and let it do the work. I could never do that with a flat shovel (my old way of edging). The blade loosened in the first 50 ft., maybe 3 or 4 minutes of light use on the driveway. I had to use my router wrench to hold the inside notched washer on the geared blade shaft because my regular wrench would not fit between the blade and the bearing housing. I suppose one could just grab hold of the sharp blade and try to tighten the nut that way. I’m quite surprised it didn’t come with a set of inexpensive stamped metal wrenches or some means of locking the shaft in place to tighten or loosen the nut. I torqued it down properly and finished the job. You will need metric wrenches. What I can see of the aluminum bearing housing/gear box seems substantial; they really take a beating. I’m curious to see how well they hold up with use. The gearing feels a little loose. The fixed shield rendered the unit useless on my sidewalk because the sidewalk has sunk over the years. The rear of the shield would hang-up on the uncut edge of the turf. If your turf (roots and soil) is an inch or more higher than the sidewalk this unit will not work for you ‘as is’. It simply could not be used without a warrantee killing modification. I used a fine-tooth handsaw and cut an inch and a half notch out of the lower outer edge of the rear of the plastic shield, just inside the blade line. After that it worked fine. Even with down time to tighten the blade and modify the shield, I edged about 300 feet, with the unit set at the highest (shallowest) setting in a little over one hour. A lot of it was 1-1/2 or so inches above the sidewalk. The blade wore down ¾ of an inch (only three teeth left) but that was expected. I didn’t use the blade guard, just seemed like it would be in the way. I bought a set of three replacement blades when I ordered the unit. They should last longer now that I can see the edge of the concrete. I can see about a 10 to 15-minute job, once a month in the future. I’ll give the unit a more than fair 3 stars simply because I didn’t expect much for under $100. If it came with a set of cheap stamped wrenches and more importantly, if it had an adjustable pivoting shield, I would give it 5 stars.

Surprisingly Worked Well
It worked really good to edge my sidewalks and around my concrete areas. I used it for 40 mins or longer without stopping and it worked the whole time. Hopefully it lasts for a long time
